how close am i to the mark ?

not trolling, just trying to have a stab at who will be there next year. im sure u guys will set me on the right path with where i went wrong.

Probably need to clear up 4-5 spots on ur list for picks in the national draft, cant see u guys participating in the pre-season draft.

Players that might be on the move - either trade or delist

Meeson - massive massive trade bait imo, might be the player used to get a very early draft choice in the 2006 draft. adelaides list is so strong and so deep, they have a chance to shop some players on the fringe for some early draft choices. Meeson not the ideal guy u want to get rid of, but is the player on ur list with the most worth to other clubs.

Massie - geez how this guy has shone this year, after being written off by so many. myself included. if i was adelaide i would float his name come trade week. cant see to many takers but u never know.

Clarke - RETIRE - its really time to hand over the reigns to maric and meeson. will ur chance at more finals be the carrot that gets him over the line for another year.

Griffen - 21 next january, real project ruckman that im sure the crows will be keeping.

Doughty - just turned 27 this month, imo this guy is clearly under pressure to hold his spot on the list with the young kids knocking down the door. ie./ Knights-VB-Porplyzia-Hinge-Vince

Skipworth - 24 feburary next year. One of the players that will be looked at heavily at the end of the year. Age may be deciding factor in wether to keep over doughty.

Shirley - 27 in may next year, another one that will be looked at getting moved somewhere at the end of the year

Gibson - to be honest, i havent seen much on this kid at all. have heard he has been injury plagued over the last couple of years, still young.

Jericho - foot skills could decide this guys fate, quick by foot and strong in the air but has many weaknesses in his game. 22 in october this year.

ROOKIES

Sugars - loved this kid at the national champs last year. lacks a yard of pace but has a couple of tricks to his bow. i would presist, read on ur boards that he isnt travelling that well in the SANFL

Bonnaddio - really know little about this guy

Redden - DELIST

Elliot - needs more time, will adelaide give it to the kid.

--------------------------------------------------------------

so if you need to free up say 4 spots.

ill have a stab and say.

Clarke
Shirley
Skipworth
Jericho

have a feeling adelaide might be very heavily involved come trade week this year.
I suppose it depends on how conservative Craig is ?

Craig has gone on record to say he's not a fan of trading and would rather build a team rather than create one.

Clarke is the only obvious one IMO because everyone else has their advantages. It's no secret that I'm a Skippy fan but he is certainly in trouble. Doughty, Shirley and Massie shouldn't be in this discussion at all. They are regulars in the 22 so at the very least they would be made back-up players while the youngsters come through. Certainly will not be delists though.

If Meesen is a Crow next year then we would have Hudson, Biglands, Maric, Meesen and Griffen as our ruck stocks. Something's gotta give there and I imagine it would be Griffen. I've only seen him once but have heard plenty of good things about him.

At this stage I imagine it will be:
Clarke (retire)
Skipworth
Hinge
Griffen

Personally I would delist Jericho but the club sent him in for shoulder surgery a couple of weeks ago which says to me they're saving him for next year. I also think we should be moving four players this year based on what I've heard about the strength and depth of this draft.

After seeing Skipworth today in the sanfl it makes you wonder that maybe he'll get another year. He's in great form in the sanfl, just can't break into the team.

Nice post by the way, but if the Crows delist him, it would be a big mistake. He has been outstsanding in the SANFL this year, after a very slow start. He is a very important part of the Bays finals chances IMHO.... he is a must keep if you ask me.... he should slot in very nicely once Benny Hart retires... ;)

I reckon at the moment Clarke is the only certainty to be not there next year.... the next lot is a lucky dip. Griffen should be safe.... if Clarke retires, I can not see us delisting another ruckman as well. That would mean we have lost 2 ruckman and then would only have 4 ruckman on the list. It just doesn't work. I think Griffen could make a decent ruckman in a couple of years at AFL level. He is still very RAW, but has a lot of upside.

You readily concede that Massie won't attract much interest, yet you push of the idea of "float"-ing his name at trade week. Why exactly? Just for the sake of trading him? If another club is interested, I'm sure we'll listen. But it's hard to see the logic in cutting loose a guy who has been a fixture in our side.

Another player that's been a fixture in our side. For the last three years no less. Whilst Doughty continues to get games, he's in no danger of being delisted.
Shirley - 27 in may next year, another one that will be looked at getting moved somewhere at the end of the year
Shirley? At this point your post is just getting ridiculous. You might as well have just named this thread "players I don't rate". It's well established that Shirley is our top defensive midfielder. He's been a regular since mid-2003. Worst of all is you've put him in your final delistings.

Nice try, but your knowledge of Adelaide's list is obviously rather lacking to offer any reasonable analysis of the potential post-2005 changes.

I guess this is the hardest thing of all as a supporter...looking to the future. We always look for midfielders and kpp but seem to forget the back pockets and others. You raise a simple but brilliant point. Hart has been there so long we think we can find another. Massie and Torney have done stints back there but Torney isnt getting any younger or relaible and Massie for mine has developed nicely as a strong midfielder/Tagger

You make a good case to keep Hinge but I wonder if it will happen

Usually when you draft players you always look for Ruckman, KPP and Midfielders. Recruiters usually never look for Forward pocket, back pocket players unless they are super talented with sublime skill and pace and have something special that puts them apart from other players. Clubs usually turn Midfielders into back pocket players.

i gave it a try, be it a very shocking one in ur eyes.

still havent seen ur 4 guys that are likely to be under the chop at the end of the year.

1. you don't get points for effort in answering a question no one asked.
2. our season is continuing. plenty of time to worry about this later.

Eh?

I was his biggest knocker and he's probably still got a hit out on me if he ever glanced upon this board during 2003-4, but he's clearly proven his worth and transformed his game in the past couple of seasons. Under no pressure whatsoever.

Shirley- 27 in may next year, another one that will be looked at getting moved somewhere at the end of the year

Has his knockers on this board - apparently when our entire midfield is overrun it's entirely his fault - but he's one of the few in our engine room who is prepared to get his hands dirty. Won't be going anywhere.
