If you can teach Cockshell how to kick then he could make it. Ultra athletic, quite quick, good contested mark, looks like an adonis....but his kicking is quite possibly the worst youll ever see. Flip a coin between it going through the big ones or out on the full. From any distance. Ive seen him almost kick out on the full from 15 out in front...but ive also seen him kick goals from 40 out on the boundary. Its just completely unreliable.

Last year he was quite poor, was dropped to the reserves and couldnt buy a kick up forward. This year he played more as a roaming ruck with some time up forward and he played pretty well. Consistency is a bit of a problem, in that he'll have a standout game one week, then pick up 4 touches the next. I had high hopes for him so im pretty annoyed that he treated his opportunity like shit. Allegedly, he rocked up to training 'under the weather' on more than one occasion, among other things. The potential is definately there, its just whether you can close the gap between his good (which can be very good) and his bad.

Deluca is tall and...err......umm.....tall.
Cockshell sounds like Gourdis but with a worse kick. PASS!

The more I read, the more I think Cockshell would be the way to go.

ummm the how to kick classroom at tigerland is booked out due to the past recruitment drives, that kind of lost sight of that minor skill that is required to play this game, kicking, preferring to lean towards, well, what did we lean towards?. Anyway, me is tipping that the formula for recruiting players has been changed nowadays. You can teach a player how to run, tackle etc etc, but and it has and always will be the way, the skill of kicking is one that you attain as a kid and that style stays with you for your whole career. I would offer the classic example, but we all know without naming him. ;)

Quick update... I've heard tonight that DeLuca and Cartledge have been told that they won't be required at training from Monday. Cockshell stays on and is a good chance of being drafted with pick 70.
