Melbourne is investigating an incident involving star forward David Schwarz, who arrived at a training session yesterday morning with a black eye after an altercation at a South Melbourne nightclub.
Football manager Danny Corcoran last night confirmed that Schwarz appeared briefly at the non-compulsory session at the Junction Oval yesterday morning and voluntarily told Demons officials about the incident, which occurred after the Demons' 30-point loss to Richmond.
But in the wake of an incident earlier in the year involving Carlton forward Matthew Lappin, after which the man who accused Lappin of eye-gouging him was himself charged by police, Corcoran would not say what happened.
But he said police were not involved and no other Melbourne players were at the venue, believed to be The Motel nightclub in South Melbourne.
"We'll have to really have a look at it and see what happened. We've already had one case this year of a player being in an incident in a public place and in the end the charges were laid against that (other) person," Corcoran said. He expected the investigation would be carried out in the next few days.
im sure the club will take appropriate action.
