During the late '80s Mark Waugh was referred to as 'Afghanistan' - ie. The Forgotten Waugh.

I am now coming to think of Dennis Armfield along the same lines. Whenever the Judd trade is brought up it's always a comparison of the merits of Judd versus Kennedy/Masten. Armfield seems to be forgotten in this debate.

This guy is a little gem and starting to become a vital cog in our side.

He brings obvious hardness to the contest but what I really love is his 'decisive' running.

Decisive is the best word I can think to describe the way he charges off half-back and breaks the lines.

He reminds of a surfer at Pipeline or Teahupoo - Armfield seems to pick his line and just charges !!

Definitely one win we can give Wayne Hughes :thumbsu:

Agree. It's awesome to watch. He just cranks it up and breaks lines. A very powerful straight-line runner. His decision making and disposal have improved out of sight. When he runs through the guts, the small forwards start buzzing and the defenders start panicking. Missed him last week.

:)

Not sure if any1 else has noticed.. but his skills aswell ... i remember when his kick used to be average.. but last night he did some incredible spearing passes, one that sticks in my mind was the one to grigg..... oooffff that must of hurt his chest

I love Army. He still has his moments with his possession, especially when he gets to the half forward line or inside forward fifty. For the most part I believe his problem is that he rushes through the disposal rather than taking an extra half-second to get it right. In all honesty, it's something a large number of small However, what he brings is absolutely vital to a winning team.

It's clear that he works as hard as any guy in the side and that he has a real love for the game, his jumper and his mates.

Go Army!

That pass to Grigg was off the left foot too.

Got to love the little tank engine.
That was a great kick off the left foot that set Grigg up for a goal. I also liked Army's 30m perfect pass to Ellard which set him up for a goal earlier in the game.

How good was that run-down of Prismall (?) in the second quarter, who was streaming into their F50 for a shot on goal?? He made 5m on him in 10.

Is going to be a very very good footballer.

his closing speed last night was amazing. May not have got the tackle but made the ball carrier poo himself on a few occasions
I still recall when I was one of the few praising the lad

I am man enough to admit I was a Armfield doubter, but I will gladly eat my big arse slice of humble pie. He has been bloody great so far, and I am glad to be proven very, VERY wrong. Well done Army, well done.

Ease up. Plenty here liked the cut of the little concreter from the get-go.

Great pick up.

He seems to spot a gap (often there is no gap!) and just gets the legs clicking at 100 miles an hour. Disposal is a lot better once he composes and hits a leading target. Chases like a grey hound to a rabbit too; except he catches that damn rabbit!
