Another key to success will be having a healthy competition for spots

Spot 1. Grimes, Bachelor, Astbury, Chaplin
Spot 2. Grigg, Conco, Townsend,
Spot 3. McBean, Vickery, Griffiths,
SPot 4. Gordan and Loyyd
etc etc
Also for injuries

Is Carlton having one of the most fierce rebuilds ever seen? I reckon they are being more fierce than we were recently. Could be scary.

On a slightly unrelated note, anyone know if that Ivan Soldo has done anything in the VFL at all ?

Will he get a game this year or still a 'work in progress ' ?

Its aggressive, but they've invested very heavily in this coming draft which we know isn't that strong
They'd want to make sure their development team is set up properly

Asking for trouble by saying this.. but Carlton could be very very bad next year.
They will absolutely be putrid. No maybe about it.
Then they'll ask for a priority pick because they're the worst team in ever.
Blues fans I know are actually looking forward to another spoon so they can get another pick 1. ****wits.

It will be scary until they mis-develop the kids and they get so frustrated that they all leave Carlton for teams who won't give them a spoon every Christmas.

Carlton lack many things like:
1/ strong culture lead from the top - eg benny gale
2/ great development environment for the younger and sometimes wayward players - eg choco
3/ love of the jumper - you know when jack spits the dummy its because his heart bleeds yellow and black

Thats why they will always be CFC
CARLTON FLOG CLUB

Menadue will be in the conversation next year I reckon. He's got something.
Definitely can play.
Another season away though I reckon.

Think realistically with the abolition of the sub rule we will see 3 talls, think that will be consistent with all clubs not just ours, so Griffiths comes in. Hard to see Hunt being left out after being part of such an effective back 7, but I think he is at his ceiling and probably needs to get pushed out to get where we want to go. Think McIntosh would be perfectly suited to that 7th defender role, setting him up at half back gives him a great opportunity to run and carry but he should also be pretty good defensively having played as a defender for most of his junior years. Yarran will also run through there at times obviously so I don't think Hunt is required in the best 22, would rather that spot goes to someone like Corey Ellis. Would love us to take some like Ah Chee at 12, which gives us our small forward and allows Yarran to play wing/half back where he can do a lot of damage. Rest of them are pretty self-explanatory except maybe Conca, but I still have a lot of time for him.
