This guy was so important tonight, very glad he got up for it. Gets to the right positions, does not need many possessions to help our side to a good win. Jeremy Laidler I salute you champ.

Cant stop admiring this guys first, second, third efforts. not only he adds value with pressure, decision making around the ball has been fantastic. just imagine if we had Duigs and Jamo back...wow..

An absolute class act.

Not the most athletic bloke out on the ground but is rarely beaten, always manages to find the right spot and is a good distributor of the football. And Jeremy is tough as nails to boot.

Fantastic footballer. :thumbsu:

Was a toss up whether he or Gibbs cut off more balls in defence and I thought Gibbs had a cracker. .. So glad we lured this guy away from Geelong and so glad they instilled in him that work for your team mates ethic that he is now passing on to our defenders. ..

I've been a massive fan of Laidler ever since mid last year. He is the definition of a solid footballer. Always feel confident when the ball goes in his direction.

Is probably the best reader of the ball in our backline. His positioning is excellent and is rarely beaten in a one on one contest, even when up against someone larger than him.

Not to mention his booming kick. Not a run and carry player but he never makes mistakes by foot and kicks the ball a mile.

Absolute bargain pick up. :thumbsu:

I have to agree, this guy was one of the best, his been a super pick up. I wish we could find players like him within the club instead of drafting from other clubs. I hope guys like Pat Mccarthy, Joshua Bootsma and Andrew McInnes follow his lead and play hard and tough.

Laidler kept Vickery, a bloke about 1 foot taller than him, to 3 possessions (one being a bullshit free kick). After dislocating his knee less than a month ago.

He's a ****ing gun.

Laids was awesome tonight... did all the right things all night long.

The other thing is that he has gone past Rusty now. This could be why the club is trying to move Russell into the midfield to take some sting out of him not fitting into our defence anymore.

Another bonus tonight was the return of Bower. He had a good first game of the year. After Miller popped up early in the first, you hardly saw him again for the rest of the night.

All in all, our defensive force is looking good for a premiership tilt this year.

I hope Russell can get his game back and be another top midfielder. I'll be pissed of if we lose a first round pick for nothing. Shaun Grigg was bad enough to lose but Russell has much more talent.

We would not have won without him there tonight.

Not the flashy win the game off his own boot type, just very dependable and gives it his all. Can't ask for more than that.

He is stunningly effective. We paid peanuts for him, he's young, he has a cool head, rarely gets out-marked, intercepts opposition kicks and has neat skills on the way out. Absolute ripper you can just set-and-forget in the backline. I really feel for the guy having to consistently play on blokes 10cm taller and 15kgs heavier, but for the most part he holds his own! Will be even better when he's taking the third or fourth tall behind Jamo, Hendo and maybe a T-Bird or Bower.

I was sitting in level one near one of the pockets. Got to witness first hand how good is body contact is in a contest. If he thinks hes in a bad position under the ball he grits his teeth (literally) and just wills himself into the position HE wants (ive never seen anyone fight that hard for position). Once there he has perfect timing, he makes body contact just before the ball drops to put his oponent off balance. From my vantage point he only semi-lost ONE battle, he dropped the mark and it spilled but his 2nd and third effort to get the ball to the boundary was fantastic. cant tell you how much i rate this KID
