Does anyone seriously believe that these two will be able to work together if they are both are re-elected;)
I think it's significant that none of the alternative tickets have asked her to join. She's Mick Malone, and probably with reason.

Diggins stated that she was involved with alot of initiatives on TC but I don't recall Smorgon mentioning many initiatives he thought up. It's great we have Bradley and Ratten but Mitchell is now stationed in a dog box in the bowels of the Legends stand.

The youth policy was adopted this year and it's hardly groundbreaking given we're still receiving priority picks or early picks. It's pretty flawed if you recognise that it sends the wrong message to a 25 year old star if he was out on contract.

Hughes hasn't delivered the goods yet and the jury is still out on his selections.

The AFL development fund was dished out to every club including the wealthy Essendon and isn't much to hang your hat on given we still went to the AFL for $1.5 million.

The business plan includes targeting smaller sponsors which isn't a great plan if you look at how Eddie re-built the Pies as a financial club. I believe Mathieson was the director who secured DanMurphy's as a sponsor and he's backing a different ticket.;)

My bad, but it was still bad form by Rose to attack Sinn like that when he could have had alot to offer. But that's the MO of Smorgon if you look at the way Diggins has been fingered as the cause of all our problems.

Don't question, just go along with Graeme because he's the man!

The fund raising suggestion that Diggins floated on TC was very similar to the idea floated by elgranto in another thread on here a couple of weeks ago. Nothing original or earth shattering on her part. Nice to know her PR people read BigFooty, though.

With respect to your comments about Wayne Hughes, I will confidently predict now, that the first & second round draft picks he has chosen so far will play a lot more football (good football at that) than the likes of Vance, Livingstone, Sporn, Wiggins (got to admire this guy's commitment), Chatfield, Campbell etc. FWIW,both Murphy & Kennedy have already played more senior AFL games than what Murray Vance did.

Is Graham the Man? Let's put it this way, at the time he took on the presidency who else on the board should have been given the job? Personally I would have liked to have seen Mathieson take on the gig, but unfortunately that was around the time that he announced to the business world that he would be focussing more on his business interests in Qld (& why wouldn't you want to spend more time in Qld?) Surely you wouldn't have wanted Lauraine Diggins to fill the position. Or would you?

Ultimately Graham Smorgon should be retained on the board. Someone with his business nous should be not lost because he looks a bit like a nerd & doesn't have the media persona of an Eddie McGuire. Is he the man for the presidency long term? We all know the answer to that, but in the mean time who else among the present board & the challengers would be better? Many have touted Greg Lee. Maybe he should put his hand up after the board election, because after all it is up to the board to determine who should be president & if he is a better option, the board will choose him. Is Sticks the man for the job? This I can't answer. I have tremendous admiration for the man but I have no idea how he would go as the figurehead of our club.

The important thing for all eligible members to remember is that we are electing the board, not the president. Therefore we should be voting for the best available people to be on our board. As I stated above, Smorgon must be part of our board, but it is up to the board members to decide who is the best person for the presidency.

That's exactly right. People who have the knowledge, skill and determination to continue our climb out of the big hole we have unfortunately found ourselves in. People who have the ideas to get our club back on the map.

Feb 6 is D day. Hopefully it sets the tone for a fantastic 2007!

GO BAGGERS!! :D

Diggins is really bad for the club, man does she have a big mouth. Smorgan may not be the divine solution but any director who goes public in the way she has is bad news. To me she comes across as a real loose cannon. And what the hell with her writing style? Is she related to synbad or something? Bloody littered with bs rhetoric and slagging off, fair dinkum if you vote for her you need a bullet in the head.

Agreed. Adam White reported the other day that there were at least 3 loose lips on the board though. There doesn't seem to be the same amount of heat on them which is a little unfair.
