I guess it's not Hardwick's fault we couldn't get Treloar, Aish, Adams….

It's possible the players you mentioned don't rate him,it does happen in football so maybe he is.

Lets get this straight dudes..this aint about re-signing its about when it was done and how long for. That is my beef. Like yeah he might pull out a finals win and then what? hand him another 3 at the end of next year?

what is f****ing stupid is these muppets that suggest its all good because even if he f**ks up we can cut him early and pay him out because we are no longer a basket case and have the funds...thats how we became a f***ng basket case FFS.
The board is playing the fraud card now....ie the spin and BS is still working so why change it. What is this shit, takes the pressure off and removes speculation. So we dont want our coach to be under pressure to perform yes? Does that translate to onfield f**k ups where our players go missing because they too are sliding along on their contracts? F***ing stupid club is starting to piss me off with this type of shit
soooo, you're happy that he as given an extension?

True, although I think that we were simply outbid by Eddie. He is so desperate to get success for Bucks as it was his decision that saw MM's successful dynasty come to an abrupt halt. Collingwood the beneficiaries.

I mean lets get real and take away the polish and shit that the board want us to buy.
He was hired and took control of a shit truck list. He took that shit truck list to where shit truck lists go, nothing more. A top notch coach in the making would have pulled out a surprise and finished 10th or something.
The club hired this Blair dude and he pinpointed a couple of recycleds and we pounced to "improve" our list and along with our recruiting the list improved and we improved on the ladder as is expected with an improved list, no more no less...we have climbed the ladder in the same graph as our list has matured and improved, no more no less...again, standard shit that is average
What I see in all that is a coach who cannot do anymore than the standard shit that any tom dick and harry worth his weight as a coach would more often than not do...
We have rewarded average once again and rewarded it well..with 2 years..we tend to see average as something that is good, seeing as we were used for to long to shit.
This is just a standard negative Bigfooty post, no more..no less

yeah dude..it is and it will remain negative until we have a positive flying from the top of Punt Rd..you on the other hand can high five and do all that shit because we have just signed our coach to a 2 year extension on the back of a 0-3 finals tally..;)

Not to worry we got Yazz and held firm and didnt cough up pick 12 and the deal was done at the last minute and we put one over the tankers and now he is going in for surgery and out for the next 6 weeks at least...then we will probably get the leg and all that shit we do to cover up another failed attempt to look like we are on the job and doing due diligence. I mean we recruit model citizens who have a strong character and all that stuff...so we didnt stand for any shit from Bennell and we let him walk...we are smart at tigerland..we know what is required to win big games...;)

Sounds good but with respect, a little naïve or maybe not hard nosed enough. . Couple of points here, 1) he has already been playing experienced players during his tenure instead of trialling the younger guys in the time he has been here. It is his game style. Having only 1 year I don't think would have made any difference,
and 2) we have had the opportunity to recruit the right players for a long time. And have we? Granted it's getting better but still has a way to go, especially with later picks. Maybe this year will be the exception. While recruiting is someone else's responsibility, giving Dimma 3 more years isn't going to affect it and I don't reckon it will suddenly dramatically improve and become the magic wand.

I'm with those who wonder why we jumped in at this stage. Dimma should be under pressure, most importantly to improve his match day selections and tactics. When those kpi's show that he has learnt from the previous 3 years, then give him an extension.
I understand stability and the players love him and he is a good guy, and he has been good for Richmond and so on and I agree but......if our goal is to win a flag, then we have to be a lot more aggressive in our approach.
However, if we are happy enough with what we have achieved over the last 3 years, and are prepared to accept that level, ok, then keep doing more of the same.
but we don't know what the kpis are so unless people personally know decision makers at board level that can contradict, i think he is meeting or exceeding them. The finals and hype is spin to open your wallet the reality is within the four wallsof rfc. It could be that we know that no flag will come our way for a while yet and the development is still going on. And Dimma is the right man to continue with this for 2 years.

we now also have star shots to announce this stuff ..like wtf is going on here??

Outbid Every time? Except when we target guns like Hampson, and Thomas

So a finals win and a premiership are not part of his KPIs? (you said meeting or exceeding)

That's great what is a football club in business for? to get a war chest? or to win premierships?

do you need to call a friend?

Possible but also possible they went for the cash too.

How many of their contracts are back ended?? Pendles swan cloke reid etc...all just about cooked 2-3 years max opens up a lot of funds. Collingwood backing themselves to win a flag before then. Our highest paid gun are 5+ years from returing so we are chokers full until that point.

not to mention the lack of respect for our coach (134 games - 66 wins, 67 losses D 2) who is now the third-longest serving coach in Richmond’s history behind;
  • Tommy Hafey (248 games W 173–L 73–D 2 and 4 premierships) and
  • Jack Dyer (226 games W 135– L 89–D 2 and 1 coaching premiership)

Living in rarefied air is Dimma
He's not the 3rd longest serving yet, but he should be assuming he coaches until the end of his new contract

a goal (e.g a premiership) is achieved through numerous tasks (based on a strategy and subsequent tactics - e.g win X away games, develop players ability to do x). kpis are a measurement that these are being done to achieve the goal. do you think that the realistic goal for 2016 is to win a flag or to edge us closer by winning a final or two?

There's obviously quite a bit about this announcement that makes me feel ill (though it was obviously coming), but nothing more than the supporters who defend the re-signing by opining that it 'takes the pressure off' Hardwick. Now the players have to tow his line for years longer and not undermine him or start looking forward to a future without him.

I have very few good things to say about Hardwick's tenure, but one good thing I've been able to say through the first few years, was that he's kept the group together and got along well with a majority of the players. Even though cracks have shown at times with individuals over the lack of success and general direction, that's been one of Hardwick's few fact-based strengths.

Given this fact, why are these supporters so downright fearful to have the playing group given a realistic ultimatum - either become more successful in September or the coach, mentor and friend you supposedly 'love' won't be here next year.

Shouldn't 'playing for Dimma's career' be a point which drives players harder given their 'love' for the bloke?

Not a point where supporters genuinely fear that it allows players to sit back and say 'thank goodness we have confirmation that this over, next coach! Amen!'

Newsflash: if the players do that instead of giving their absolute all for Hardwick, it's quite simply because they've already lost belief - and no amount of 'removing pressure' from the shoulders of a terminally mediocre coach is going to magically produce a different result than the past.

This was the year to find out once and for all how much the playing group and coaching staff are on the same 'belief' page and what they can do about it when it counts.

Sadly, we've blown that opportunity and based this decision on fear - and so ironically, a lack of belief in the strength of the bond between players and coach.
