Will we need to relocate to a bigger facility to keep pace with the power clubs? Not much for supporters at Westpac Centre

Not much for our supporters but our facilities inside the centre are top notch. Top top notch. We recently spent millions on a redevelopment of the facilities. We're not moving any time soon, nor do we need too.

Find it quite strange. Very far away from their traditional home. Waverley made sense, but Dingley not so much.

What exactly are they doing there that's better than what we can do being on the beautiful banks of the Yarra, in the shadow of our home ground, near public transport and entertainment venues, with world class training facilities, the height of technology, on the doorstep of Julian Feller's consulting suites, which are at one of the best sports medicine centres in the country?

Our players could walk to do their rehab at the Westpac Centre after a game - Hawthorn would be driving for an hour to get to Dingley.

Just because other clubs are building giant complexes in the middle of nowhere doesn't mean that it's better, it means that the sweet spot on Swan St is already taken.

Oh, BTW, the proposed site is next to a tip.

Location, location, location. We have it in spades. Absolute prime (football) real estate. Plus the new Community Centre hasn't opened yet, and judging by the plans, it's pretty impressive. Will deliver some extra spaces for us fans.

Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if we explore options for an additional (bigger? different shaped?) training oval at some stage (one never seems enough these days), although I'm not sure why.

As a fan I think our location is great. Of course I can't speak on the behalf of the players but I'm pretty sure they'd prefer where we are than some outer suburb.

Edit- And I'm pretty sure the millions we've poured into upgrades in the last few years isn't already outdated. There is no reason the club can't continue to improve the Wespac Centre, there is no need to move.

I wouldn't like to be doing pre-season training in the height of summer when a strong northerly wind is blowing from the Tootal Rd Tip end of the stadium!!
Their facilities will soon be covered by a mountain of seagull s**t!

The olympic park centre is perfect really, for both location and the ability to upgrade as we go.

Already since taking the place over it's had 2 major refurbishments and there's no reason why when needed we can't upgrade the facilities again.

I'd rather be 100m from the MCG then 100m from Moorabin Airport.;)

Could kick Melbourne out of Gosch's Paddock and upgrade it and make it a second oval ???

Train station out there?
Nope, it would be a bus from somewhere on the Frankston line like Cheltenham, Mentone or Mordialloc.
Possibly even a bus from a station on the Dandy line, the place will stink in the hot summer pre seasons being so close to the tip.

It could be worse, they could have built it in Bangholme next to the Eastern Treatment Plant, it would have been quite fitting though, considering their colors are poo and wee.

You'd be surprised, but most of Melbourne's landmass probably was a landfill of some sort. Would put my house on that the swan street region where we are is all former landfill.
Not sure that land that was filled a hundred years ago bears much relationship to an active tip!
