Just been reading and at every game hearing people calling Pendlebury "Pendles". To me it just sounds wrong. Growing up with him, neither his Father, Brother nor he himself were ever called Pendles. Everyone knew him as "Dipper". Not blaming as wouldn't expect him to keep it, but it just sounds really very odd.

So here I am, doing my little bit and campaigning for him to to be rightly restored as "Dipper".

Any other players that are the same??

Today 18:07 anti. Re: "Dipper" not "Pendles"
i dont know, maybe you should ask pendles.

Well, I implore anyone out there, if they get a chance, to ask the man himself and reply back to this.

Could be worse... My brother and I nicknamed Tyson Goldsack 'PendleSack' on account of the fact that we were getting the two confused last year.

Pendleham or Wellingbury.....I need my glasses on to see the difference in those two

who gives a shit seriously, you don't choose what nickname you are given

its like that tosser in the NBA who didn't like the nickname he was given and he sounded like an absolute w***er asking the crowd to call him the nickname he made up for himself

Meh.

Isn't "Dipper" that guy from the Dimmies adds??? He's really annoying....

This is "Dipper"

& this is "Pendles"

I don't know Pendles personally & I'm not exactly holding my breath that I'm going to meet him. So, I will continue to yell "On ya PENDLES!!!!" at the telly, whether Pendles likes it ro not, he can't hear me. :p

Pendles will never be known as Dipper. May have been once, but never again. I'm not called by my childhood nickname anymore either, thank god!

His fortnightly article is called Pendles' Prose... so I think his Collingwood nickname is officially Pendles. Dipper may have been his nickname growing up, but it doesn't seem that way now.

I always cheer him on as Pendles, but have been calling him 'Matrix' cause of the way he moves (his fluidity) and his elusiveness in traffic. My mate now calls him that all the time and it sound right!

Just out of interest but why was he called Dipper?

apparntly his father and brother are real tough nuts.

so go have a dip, and dip became dipper like all good family nicknames they get passed on lol.

Hillbillies want to be called "sons of the soil", but it just ain't going to happen!

Seriously though, even "Neon" Leon Davis wanted to be called "Magic" Leon Davis, just like "Neon" Deion Sanders wanted to be called "Prime Time". One day these guys are going to have to wake up and realise you don't choose your own nickname.
