Was pathetic tonight. The "footsteps" attempted mark in the first quarter was also pathetic. I was sitting behind those goals, and the moans from the Carlton's supporters told the story. Not to mention that he was the direct cause of half of Brisbane first half goals.

Backed this guy home to display something, and still will back him home, but needs time in the 2's for now! keep the faith.

He has lot's of guts and go but so does Wiggins.

We need footballers who can think quick and have very good skills....Ando has neither..he seems to also find himself caught up by the opposition. I will always love him for going back with flight in front of Brown a couple years back but IMO he just doesn't have the ability to take it to the next level..wish he did.

he did some nice things like running back but he also shat himself and cost us 4 goals singlehandedly

How come the goals he cost us, according to you, are increasing...

He directly cost us 1 goal. He had help in the turnovers that cost us another 2 goals.

Outside of that he did a few nice things and broke even for the night. And he is still getting into the game so he will improve.

Some other guy who people were bagging out a couple of years ago is now being named as one of the reasons why Brown run amok on us and kicked a bag.

And some other guy who collected a good number of possessions was being called next to useless and had people claiming that he couldnt kick, couldnt hand pass but was rated as one of our BOG tonight.

I am not saying that Anderson will ever be as good as Bower or Russell, but if he is given time actually playing AFL games, he might turn into a very useful utility player for us.

on the money here
Physically yeah.
But his game is not there.
An Austin or Browne offer so much more
His good is OK but too infrequent. His bad is very costly

I don't rate Anderson overly highly but I don't think Browne's disposal is much better, he is another turnover merchant. Anderson has more athletic tools that we can work with.

I'd be giving Walker the role Anderson has been taking the last couple games and then replacing Anderson with Grigg or Lucas.

Good post :thumbsu:

Yep, Ando made some BAD mistakes early, but he got better as the game went on. He also seemed really nervous early, so the experience will do him good.

Do see some upside, he's quick and his delivery got better as the game progressed, so obviously has some skill. Still only young and played only a few games.

Question is whether he's good enough compared to others playing the same position. Am a big fan of Army and he's in front of Ando, although at this stage I'd be picking Ando in front of Brown at least (sorry WA boys), he's quicker than Brown and skill wise, well Browny's skills were terrible in those pre-season games.

Personally I wasn't appalled by Anderson's game. He made a stupid mistake our two but was fairly honest.

Unfortunately being a break-even type of player does not cut it in this game, Anderson will be under pressure to keep his spot, give him another week and if he brings some form out against the Bombers he might keep his spot, but it is a thin line

I agree that he deserves another week in the team, but if Bower is coming back in against the bummers, who do you drop?

It comes down to a choice between Anderson or Army... Possibly Army could go back to the ants for another week, but we want to field the best possible team we can and smash the bummers into the dirt.

Im sorry guys this kid is just no good...
from the dropped mark where his shit his pants to when he kicked it out on the full under little pressure

This guys heart is in the right place, but his skills are not up to it, def has to go......I reckon rats still has the memory of a couple of yrs ago when he backed into a pack or something like that, but yesterday let himself down with that mark, he dropped.......that would have been the final straw, he directly cost us 3 goals that i can remember last night.

Was so disappointed he dropped that mark which cost us a goal because you expect that his skill errors will cost us (as the out on the full in the 1st Q cost a goal) but that miss was a lack of pure G+D. david Teague wouldn't have dropped that mark.

Ando needs to be fanatical in his training and his game in order to make up for his obvious lack of skill and instinct. He isn't desperate enough for mine at the moment and shouldn't be in the team ahead of others like Browne, Lucas and Grigg.

I see nothing in Anderson, never have. Poor disposal, zero awareness and reminds me of a deer in the headlights on most occasions. Armfield has a poor disposal but at least he is hard at it, determined, runs well and fights hard on the field.

agree, grigg, browne and lucas ahead of this guy.

OK, I've been a big supporter of Joey, but we can't afford to carry him at this level until he improves certain aspects of his game.

It wasn't just his mistakes, but his support for Thornton and Jamo was terrible last night and it cost us. Thornton badly needed another defender to help him with Brown, and when Bower was out Anderson had to play that role because Jamo was one-out with Fev (and did a good job BTW).

Our best defense has Austin and Bower and Grigg in it. Injuries/suspensions are hurting us at the moment.

:)

Perplexes me that people do not see this. How many of our list would have made that run down tackle last night?

I'm a big fan of Armfield. Along with AJ, he consistently runs down the smaller faster forwards. When AJ has a midfield role, Armfield's job in defense is even more important. Thought he was OK considering his lack of match fitness. Will be better for the run. He's an important part of our defensive structure. Love his "take them on" attitude as well.

:)

Agree a lot with this , was even saying it last night . Thornton had no chop out at all from any carlton backmen. The loss of bower hurt big time, not for the fact he would have taken Brown or Fev, but im pretty sure he woulda been lurking around them and been third man up or waiting around for the spillages to kill the contest as soon as he could. On a few occasions thornton did well to spoil browny, but the ball was still in play in front of brown with no other carlton players to be seen to mop it up.

I like the look of austin aswell

The one thing Anderson does possess is G & D.

Anderson has dropped back in front of Brown twice, last night and in 2008 to cut him off a lead.

I reckon Anderson is still adjusting to the pace of the game with just 15 games under his belt. He's been there for three seasons, but he's still a relative newbie as part of the structure.

More development time is needed.

Anderson won't improve his awareness at the lower level.

I think Anderson showed a lot of desperation to bring down Brennan or one of their taller players last night in a good tackle.

Only one of those players is a defender.

And Browne's disposal and decision making needs some work.

Browne would be in the team if he was demanding a spot.

Fact.

Grigg needs to improve his decision making because he can kick, but would have burnt the ball as badly as some of his teammates. Grigg isn't going to get a game in the middle, yet I wouldn't mind picking him ahead of Robinson as a half forward. Grigga is better than Robinson at getting his hands free and setting up players with handball at stoppages. Robinson is hard and can make things happen, but doesn't take the first option instinctively like Grigg if he can't get boot to ball.

Long way to go for Robinson who is still a very good prospect.

He's had his go.....shown nothing and doesn't deserve another go until he dominates in the Bullants which he has never done.

Grigg, Austin are much better options.....I still reckon both Grigg and Austin (injuries permitting) should be running out with this team.

Walker was also very disappointing last night - not one tackle!!!
