Gun from the Riddell league, Romanyk and a few escapees from the cash starved Aberfeldie........
Wish we had a few cash starved clubs out our way. Flow seems to be continuing out of the VAFA and into the EFL

Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Gun from the Riddell league, Romanyk and a few escapees from the cash starved Aberfeldie........
We would hope so , but anything can happen. I will say this that there is a massive effort to lift this club up the grades, how far who knows how far a suburban club can go these days.
Who have PEGS added FWIW.
The success of Beaumaris would suggest you can go all the way to the top. Not all that long ago Ormond, Oakleigh, Hampton, Parkdale, Fitzroy and others were in B grade. Some still are. While it is hard to match the networks of the elite APS and Melbourne uni clubs, there is nothing preventing any ammo club from climbing the grades.
I do feel for Whitefriars. For some time now they have consistently been the best performed football school in the ACC system. Generally stronger at school level than De La, St Bernards and St Bedes who are or have been in A grade and far superior to Mazenod who are now back in B.
Right in the heart of EFL territory with plenty of strong cashed up clubs right on their doorstep. If they can find a way to stop the player drain then they could be a real force.
What did Connolly do wrong. You are spot on Rooster, although speaking from experience at the Nodders, if you get your house in order you can stop the drain.
Mazenod's turn around was due to a committee having a strong plan, appointing a coach who really turned around culture (Steinfort) and massive support from the school.
The school is the real key here. They started to be real supporters of the Old Boys sporting groups the offering the majority of the casual sports coaching jobs to guys that wanted to play for the football club. This had a real impact.
Even Phibbs got caught up in this at one stage as he was on the way out when Connolly got sacked but the school principal put an end to that.

He's a good bloke and knows his stuff, having said that Phibbsy is a ripper. No idea. I think the president at the time got caught up in a Heath Black love affair.

Nice work Pendles. Perhaps the top four are a little on the short side. Also, if Hedgey is right and Friars will be competitive if they can keep close to their best unit on the field, they appear a little long.Since no one else is willing to dip their toe in the water, here is the early premiership market from Pendles.

You have plenty of challenges ahead of you Canada, especially with Mr Trump making his presence known to you next door.
Pendles wishes Maplebet the best of luck
At the other end of the scale who will be the two sides having a kick in D2 for the 2018 season?

Three regular senior players have left for certain. Another couple of fringe seniors too. That's hardly a crisis is it?
Why would it worry you.Has Bedford mellowed on the Friars ,
I'm sure he used to dislike them.

Sinclair has indeed popped up as an assistant at SKOBs, Tanner has retired due to age/injuries/work/family, Gatehouse is continuing and not an "old bloke". Not a lot of recruiting happening at SMS, the average age is still under 25 and improvement is expected to come from their young guys getting bigger, stronger, faster. Also heard a whisper that their captain (gatehouse?) of the past 4-5 years is moving on also, as well as Tanner. moving on all the old blokes it appears.
