EP would be better considering a merge with BHN

Why would BHN merge with them, they are going well enough by themselves, unless they just took all their players.

My suggestion was purely based on locality. With Nunawading and Doncaster both coming out of recess competition for players in the area has increased.

Not suggesting the sharks bring heaps to the table but it may be a way of keeping them going in some form. No dig at BHN here

LFL is correct. BHN don't particularly need anything from EP. Perhaps a couple of blokes could transition into their ones. They'll still be lucky to finish above 5th in D3 next year

What a sad indictment of the current state of the VAFA competition. Years of neglect toward the lower divisions, combined with an overwhelming focus on keeping school-aligned clubs satisfied, have brought the league to its lowest point in history.

Lower division football has always been prone to week-to-week spankings. God knows I've been on the end of a few. It's part of the culture of being a small lower tier club. But the decision-making framework that the VAFA has implemented for the last 5 years hasn't aimed to improve competitiveness and footballer experience. Instead, it's been entirely focussed on maintaining the status-quo and preventing high-division clubs from leaving.

It's reinforced the neglect that I'm sure all lower division clubs has felt in recent years. Hell, we couldn't even get someone from the VAFA to attend our clubs 70th Year Luncheon. 70 years of loyalty, and not a single board member, or representative from VAFA management cared to show up. Says it all really.

VAFA desperately needs reform. It needs a big new vision, and a leadership team that has some balls to try new things, and kick away from the burden of history that is keeping that place bogged down.

Wonder if Williams is rethinking his committment. Those 3 teams that have gone to thirds are where he kicked most of his goals, same with the Snakes two's FF - he will be spewing not playing teams with 15 players anymore!!

Williams could go get good coin at a D4/D3 EFNL club easily

While not perfect and the consensus ultimately voted against it, the VAFA did offer a solution which might have provided a lifeline to 3 clubs. I’m no VAFA apologist, but on this occasion they did try and find a resolution. Seems they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
