Box Hill with 40 recruits in 40 days(Supposedly). Wonder how many retirements theyve had with the flag win..

St.Francis also look they have a few new faces. Plenty coming from the SFL by the looks of things

20 clearances on the VAFA website for Bok Hill.

40 does seems a bit excessive but is not impossible.
They have a lot of players coming from non-football backgrounds- mainly basketball, so dont be surprised if 40 is a conservative estimate

Plenty of numbers is great but hopefully they’re not all spuds. Either way great to see Box Hill and South Mornington back in D4.

Masala have hired a new coach. Probably a good thing to get rid of that abusive coach they had before.

Good news with Box Hill and Sth Mornington back and also good news to have 10 teams!

Seems like it will be a pretty even div 4 season compared to the last few years.

Any big recruits around the league and departures?

Lots of clearances and new recruits from Box Hill means they have enough to fill in a thirds team. Pretty great coming from clubbies.
Looks like Mt Lilydale and St Francis have added more players to their list too.

St Francis will be much stronger this year with a group of great signings all coming together.
Is there a new coach at Mt Lilydale who has brought players with him ?.
Also great effort by BHN to go from 1 side to 3 in 12 months !. Good luck to all D4 sides for this season.

I’ve heard there is some bad blood between Box Hill North and Parkside. Can anyone elaborate?

Nothing to it really. A few guys who lived in the northern suburbs wanted to play together and more locally so moved do parkside.
Of course it would've been nice if they stayed but no hard feelings. It's the lay of the land at this level... Not to say that both groups may want to win that one just a little bit more

Don’t Box Hill North have bad blood with everyone? They used to be more interested in winning the fight than winning the game. That was 10 years ago though, times and personnel have probably changed since then.

Can anyone tell me the team closest to the Northern suburbs to follow.
I watched last years finals series and was impressed both by the standard and behaviour of supporters alike.
Sick of watching overpaid players and really like the amateur spirit.

North Brunswick. Good bunch of guys and are building a successful culture. Fun team to watch as well. Never had an issue with supporters, seem to be a team that is what the VAFA is all about.

We had a great rivalry with North Brunswick and you are right they play hard but seem to be a good bunch of blokes. They should do well if they have kept the majority of their squad.

FWIW northern teams also include Fitzroy, Ivanhoe, Brunswick or a few old boys schools. Being a Lions supporter I would have thought you get down to Brunswick St, a great place to watch footy.

3. Eley Park
4. St Francis Xavier
5. Elsternwick
6. Parkside
7. Box Hill North
8. South Melbourne District
9. South Mornington
10. Masala

It's hard for me to have a crack at the ladder at this stage but it does seem like this is the most open Div 4 has been in a while.

The last 2 seasons have been dominated by Aquinas and Westbourne (very handy second placings as well) and I think that the competition will open up a little bit this season and maybe not have some of the large winning margins that there has been in the past.

Even at the bottom Masala have been improving, if not by wins on the scoreboard. You can see that they aren't giving up as many points and are heading in the right direction at least. Hopefully we are nearly out of the "Chaddy Era" where it comes to huge wins and % boosters.

Any more details on who they are and where they are coming from?
As others have suggested in this thread, they've had a large group of players that have come across from Hallam with the appointment of their coach.

The pick of the bunch are probably Chin and McGaw.

Thanks mate, might have a look at a few and then decide.
