Dixon an elite ruckman?

You just knew when he took that mark 30m out for a simple shot he'd ******* spray it. Kicks goal of the year 5 min later, but the simple stuff is more important. You'll get 20 of those simple shots a year versus 1 or 2 miracle on the boundary things.

He's crap as a ruckman but his follow up is ok, sometimes. Except he's slow and immobile so someone like Jackson would kill him

The full context of the commemt from Hinkers is that he's not surprised he did OK in ruck because he thinks if we hadn't developed him as an AA forward that he could've been an elite ruckman instead.

Agree in that context the claim is not unreasonable. He's tall, strong as an ox, can leap and has great mobility for a man his size. That second goal in the last quarter was a cracker, not many rucks could have done that.

Teakle has a lot of these attributes and is a young ruckman. He and Visentini could be a great combo.

Sorry Sam 😥

He wasn't just a key forward at GC. He spent a year or two spending more time in the ruck than up forward for them due to injuries etc.

If we are going to play Finlayson,Marshall,Georgie,Dixon all in the same team either one of them has to go or play Dixon as a specialist Ruckman.

"I actually think Charlie could be an elite ruckman" Ken Hinkley.

Sorry I don't see it.

And I don't think Ken sees it either given he had preferred to play Lycett, Finlayson, Hayes and even SPP in the ruck to Dixon this year alone.

Dixon is an ex basketballer. He doesn't have a leaping leg. He jumps like its a jump ball. Dixon has brute strength.

You need more than that to be an elite ruckman ie top 4 or 5 in the league.

Now we are done for finals select both Hayes and Visentini and play them off the bench.
That takes care of the "Hayes hasn't got a tank" routine.
Dixon is a forward, thank you very much.
Providing he goes for marks with both hands, of course. If he doesn't do that, then out of the team.

not elite but he gives us a lot when he's on the ball grabbing it out the ruck.
Never elite, but as a chop out for 25% to 30% of the time he provides a completely different (and effective) dynamic that could play havoc with teams.
Put a genuine #1 ruck to pair him with and we're cooking with gas!

Always thought Chuck is too easily double/triple/quadruple teamed at FF, and we tend to be Dix centric too much.

Let him roam the forward line, not getting in he way of Todd, MG, Finny whilst occasionally dropping back deep to the square, the other 3 getting one-on-one contests or leading out from deep gives us a new dimension.

Throw in the chop out cameos, plus taking all the I50 ball ups and throw ins, and he becomes way more effective.

Kern thought 'elite ruckman' about SPP, Ollie and Jakes Neade and Mitchell* too

*Jakes added for ridiculousness
