Like a Formula 1 car, sometimes you're only a few tweaks and a new driver away from matching the top teams.
If Carlton can add a few runners on the outside who can deliver the ball well and have a change in some game plan/strategy stuff I see no reason we can't get back to our best footy with the group like we saw over the last couple of seasons.

However they have shithouse depth and if the ball hits the deck in the forward 50 I would be shitting myself as a carlton defender because the footy is going to be flying into our defensive 50
Im not going to say I study carlton like a fan (Im sorry for all those who suffer) However Im not sure if it's a talent issue of the small forwards or the thing hinges on a Big forward has to take a mark to generate shots on goal

They either stick with their current list and hope Cripps, Curnow, Walsh, Weitering, etc get reinvigorated, and Jagga and improvement from other youngsters allows them to contend for a position in the bottom half of the top 8, or regress further and resign themselves to bottom 4, in the hope that rebuild v7.0 works better.

Given a full rebuild would take another 7 years or so to come to fruition I don't think they can really afford to try that.

I don't know what they need to do, whether it is players, game plan, coaching, skills, etc. but the last 2 Carlton games I've watched, they've just looked well below the level of their opposition.
Last night it seemed like the players were trying hard, but they just weren't good enough to compete with Hawthorn, and while the Hawks are good, there is still a chance they could miss the 8. So if the Blues are struggling to compete with that, that's not a great sign.

There was far too much evidence of lack of chasing and Hawks players breaking tackles to regard Carlton as 'trying hard'.
Hawthorn got out to a comfortable 40 point margin early, and went into cruise control for the remainder of the match, which resulted in a semi respectable final score line for Carlton.
