Bolton, 28, is recognised as one of Essendon’s most popular players and hardest workers.

He made his debut for Essendon in 1998 after being selected with pick 4 in the 1997 draft and played 124 games and kicked 50 goals.

"I have a heavy heart but no regreats, it has been a rollercoaster. Just the emotions you feel from one day to the next. That's what makes it the hardest but most rewarding thing and I want to say a special thanks to the supporters," Bolton said.

I do. from everything i have heard he is one of the most popular players in the playing group... He was the fittest player on our list which shows how hard working he is... He just didnt quite have the skill level or ball winning ability he needed.
