Agreed. I think being obsessed with girls like Zooey Deschanel and the type of girls you see in a movie like Ruby Sparks define the guy. It defines them as a pseudo-intellectual. That Stacey girl from Big Brother last year is in a similar mould.

I am a little unclear how being into Zooey Deschanel makes one pseudo-intellectual? I am not sure she comes across as being particularly intelligent...

She is absolutely gorgeous though, I have no problem admitting that!

If I do have a type (I do) my ideal woman would be something like this (ranked in order of importance).
Physical Characteristics

1. Long Hair (Cannot stand girls with short hair)
2. In shape (Call me shallow, but this is a must)
3. Shorter than my good self. (I am 5'9, so anything shorter than that is fine. Preferably 5'3-5'8.
4. 'Cute' type of girl as opposed to the banging hot girl. But, a girl that can bring out the hotness if possible.
5. Big Eyes (Doesn't matter what colour, just big eyes, Katy Perry style.

Other (Mental, behavioural etc.)

1. Must be a 'girly girl'. (Could have come under Physical, but I don't dig the tomboys, personally.)
2. Must enjoy music and sport. (Doesn't have to be the same sport or music as myself, but can't stand girls who don't like any sort of music or sport.)
3. A girl who enjoys to just curl up on the couch every now and again. But, not a girl who can't go out and have a good time.
4. Confident. Not arrogant.
5. Intelligent. If not in terms of common sense, at least has a specialty in something.

And, now I understand why I am single.

Up to a point.

It's cool enough liking similar music, but there is going to be some obvious differentials. I dated a girl who was into some of the same music, but she also liked a lot of cookie-cutter indie rock bands as well. We feuded a bit over that. And Mumford & Sons. **** those campaigners.

Agree with the footy thing to some extent as well, but I think it'd be OK if you had a girl who was legitimately into the game it wouldn't be so bad. The same girl I dated was a Blues supporter, which I thought was really cool until we started going to games together and I realised we'd never have a constructive, evenhanded conversation about the game. When we lost it was all "The boys tried really hard and Eddie kicked some gr8 goals!"

My mates girlfriend came with us once and checked in on Facebook within two minutes of finding seats and then spent the remainder of the game on ASOS..
