Do you like Milo?

I love Milo too!

I have a cup of Milo each night before bedtime. I have to prepare it a certain way.

I take the biggest coffee mug I've got and put about 5 - 6 teaspoons in. I then pour just enough milk in to moisten this milo and then stir it vigourously until it is disolved as possible.

Once this is done, I fill the mug up, so the level of remaining Milo floaties are above the level of the brim.

I then let it sit for about 10 minutes so the floaties get completely soaked and then scoopt them off with the table spoon. I then stir and demolish the rest!

Darky, I want you to cook for me. I'll bring dessert. ;)

While we're talking about the preparation of our milo's.......mine is about 6 heaped teaspoons of milo, 8 of sugar (spot the sweet-tooth lol) hot water to almost full, and a tiny splash of milk. MMMMMMMMMMMM. I never let anyone else make me a milo, it's always so weak and milky.

I like Milo.

Milo is huge in Malaysia.

A few of the Milo products I have spotted whilst living here:

1. Milo in all sorts of sizes from single servings to 10kg tubs (yes 10kg!)

2. Chocolate bars and things called Milo Nuggets (bit like a small easter egg but filled with Milo.

3. Milo on tap at McDonalds and most petrol stations (my daughter has to have Milo with her happy meal).

4. Ready made Milo in fruit box type containers

5. Milo from "The Milo Man". This is a guy who rides around on his motorbike selling ready made Milo from a big tub strapped to the back....remember it is always 32 degrees and humid so the thought of yesterday's milo from the back of a bike is not too appealing.

6. Milo Breakfast ceral. Instead of sprinkling Milo on your cornflakes just buy milo flavoured cornflakes to start with !

The whole country appears to be onsessed with the stuff.

Ohhhhh I hate it when other people make milo for me - it's always milky - YUCK

Agree with you totally Lioness - although I think I'd let CJH make mine - his recipe is similar to mine. And have you noticed people get offended when you refuse their offer to make it?

Actually, I was writing about this to a friend the other day. I have no idea why.

I don't like any sort of hot chocolate drink. Not that I've had any since I was about 5, but I've always hated them. Actually once on school camp in grade 6, we were forced to drink Milo. I didn't like it then either.
I've always been a tea and coffee drinker, but never ever hot chocolate. When I was little I couldn't stand the smell of warming up milk, and I still don't like the taste of milk that has been put in the microwave or boiled on the stove. I don't know, perhaps it's a psychological thing. Give me cold milk any day, cold chocolate milk? No worries. But not hot chocolate.

And so two weeks ago, my mother had just come home from her operation so we were pampering her. She asked me for a Milo. I went off to make it, but then had to go back "Uhhh... Mum, I don't know how to make Milo." I've gotten to the age of 19 without ever having to make a milo. That's somewhat novel.

So... yeah quick, no worries (isn't it called nesquick now?), but I'm more of a fan of strawberry quick, but Milo? Ick.

My sister and I were banned from Milo for a year when I was about 8, because we ate a whole tub in one night. No milk. Just got a spoon each and demolished it all. :D

Yep. Unless we were at a friends house. We also got done for a month for having 5 pieces of Hubba Bubba in our mouths at once (when I was 5), and cordial was banned for a month because we drank it straight.

I think that was it? I'll let you know if anything else comes to mind. Oh, and no TV on Mondays an Tuesday for a year when I was 13, because we broke the TV on/off knob. TWICE! :D

GOD yes!!!!!! Especially when you refuse their offer, then a minute later, go out and make it yourself..........hehehehe. AND they get grumpy at me for not making them one.......I can't, no one likes it the way I do it..........at least someone else understands that. I feel justified now. :D lol

This is how i make it!

Grab a shaker. Put in 3 or 4 heaped "tablespoons" :) of Milo. Boil some water. 1/3-1/2 fill the shaker with the boiled water. Add milk to the top. Cap the shaker, and then shake. Hold down the shaker HARD, as the pressure inside (due to the heat) is great.

Shake for a minute or so...remove the lid and violia!!

Only for you to share my secret recipe with your date tonight??

My Milo is sacred. But you seem nice enough. Might have to make a compromise. ;)

Just had to drag this subject back up again.

I made the two most perfect cups of milo on the weekend. I did nothing different to usual, however they tasted ultra chocolately and yummy.

WHY?

Could perhaps the water and milk make a difference to the end result?

These were made from Noosa town water and one of those lactose free milks (not that I put much in), and tasted much better than if made from Brissy water and Skim milk????

You don't see Milo in supermarkets in the USA. You can get it in Chinatown in the Asian markets but it is made and labelled in Thai including Thai language script on the tin.
