Do you remember when this had meaning?

I remember when I was a kid that I used to look at this emblem with a sense of aweness. I looked at it and it mean't something even though I am a passionate Hawk supporter. The other day I saw it again and it actually bothered me that this emblem has faded to almost transparency, just like the Carlton FC.

I say this with no pleasure, but the Carlton FC we knew and once hated, is dead and no draft picks can ever fix it. They are gone from history, gone from our memories and been replaced with something, well at least in my head that I do not recognise.

How could you call this year of Hawthorn's "OK"? They won 4 of their first 5 games, then won 1 of their next 13 or something, and only ran into form when they faced the bottom 3 sides at the end of the season (Carlton, Essendon, Kangas)

Hmmm ... we won more games than Carlton, Essendon, Kangaroos, Brisbane & Port Adelaide ... we finished the year on a positive note ... we beat Carlton, Essendon & Geelong twice, we beat Richmond convincingly. We lost a close game to WCE in the last 10 minutes of the game off the back of a couple of dodgy umpiring decisions ... we didn't get our butts kicked badly by Adelaide the way some others teams did over there ...

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel - and it isn't the headlight of an oncoming train. Which is more than I can say for Carlton ... who in all likelihood have several more years of pain ahead of them before they can even think about getting to that stage.

Judging by what your saying:

Mike Tyson knocking out Mr Bean would be an acheivment.

Beating the bottom sides twice each in one year (which accounts for 4 or of your 9 wins) is not an acheivement.
