Inspired by the 'Worst Christmas Presents' Thread I decided to see if anyone here thinks it's normal and okay to return and exchange their christmas or birthday presents.

Do you?

Or is it too insensitive, rude or just plain mean to do so?

Only if the present doesn't fit, or have one of the same already.

Otherwise, wait until the next Christmas has passed, and it is fit for the next Garage Sale!

Never have... when I get a dodgy one I usually just push it under my bed and pretend it doesn't exist until next Christmas, when I usually give it to whoever I have as a Secret Santa at work :p

I know someone who not only returns the presents, but actually gets the cash back!

BTW here's a nice little scam. K-Mart return anything, anytime even without a docket.

Bought something that was already on special during a 25% off sale. Got one as a gift at the same time.

Returned one without a docket of course after the special & sale ended and picked up 35% in the bargain. :D

Does the warehouse of doom have BigW painted on it by any chance?

Think I've only done it once, and that was a CD I already had.

The only problem was, my friend insisted on picking the CD she swapped it for, and ended up giving me one I didn't want.

This is why people should LISTEN.

Nup.

People give me money, even my parents.

The family's asian and when your asian, you go agaisnt the rules.
You acknoledge western tradition, but you add your own spices.

My mum says to me if i dont like what she gives me i can take it back, but when i say i dont like it she cracks it and asks whats wrong with it.

to "return" a christmas present would mean giving to somebody after christmas...a clear indication that you didn't consider them worthy of a present in the first place

i pre-empt.

I got given "the sale of the century" board game on some quizz show (can't remember which), took it to Myer and got a refund on it. About the best I did out of that little experience
