Just got an MCC membership, desperately want to use it next year. Is it weird to go to games by yourself? I only really go with opposition supporters and they're not too keen on the extra $$$ to sit in the MCC with me lol

I go by myself sometimes, but that's mainly because no one else wanted to go with me at that point in time so I just think "well **** em, I'm not going to miss out just because they don't want to go".

A good example for me was when I wanted to go to the Tom Hawkins game in 2012 I had a asked a friend to come with me, but he decided spending $60 on Black OPs 2 was of more value than $13 (concession) for the best game of the year.o_O

Not weird mate
If my mates won't come along, I go alone from time to time-always find someone willing to talk about the match with

Just get your friends to buy general admin (as opposed to reserved tickets) and go and sit with them. Scan in through gate 2 and walk around the inside of the G (have to go left from gate 2 IIRC). Doesn't work for fully ticketed games but there can't be that many of them outside finals and anzac day.

When I used to go to the footy, I used to always go on my own. Especially to the G.
I just never sat.

Done it plenty. Bit then again I have no friends....

"I am loser baby, so why dont you kill me"

Go Catters

Off the top of my head it's $35-40 for level 1 & 4 plus $8 for a reserve seat. level 2 and 3 balcony vary on availability depending on turnout but if passes are available its around 50

2013 prices were:

$31 for GA
$41 for reserved seat on level 1/4 on the wing (first few rows of level four as well, not the nosebleeds)
Balcony/Long Room passes to give visitors access to level 2/3 are free and online applications usually open on the Monday before the game (but you need a $31 ticket to get entry to the ground, of course).

I don't think a GA visitors ticket in the MCC is any more expensive than a GA visitors ticket anywhere else in the ground, but I could be wrong. And, as mentioned, if you want to sit with friends in GA spots elsewhere, there are exit points where you can get out and go to their area.

As for the original question, I've done it plenty of times. Often can't find anyone who wants to go to the MCG games, or they'll be sitting elsewhere, if they're Geelong members. The most memorable recent example was Hawkins goal after the siren against Hawthorn in 2012. My deal is, I usually apply for the balcony passes, then find someone who wants to go and let them take care of purchasing the ticket. On this occasion, I couldn't give the balcony passes away.

Did standing room at Simonds for the Sydney game in the second last round of this season. There's been other instances where I've gone to the ground with a mate or two, but we weren't able to get seats together, so we've been sitting on our own in different parts of the ground (the re-opening of Simonds this year was an example of this). I'll always go with someone else if I can, but if I can't I don't have a problem at all with going solo.

I go by myself occasionally, if my regular football-attending friends aren't free. I'm also an MCC member, and there's always a number of people sitting in the balcony area who are by themselves, no big deal. And if you want to talk about the game, just sit near other Cats fans, you can usually engage someone nearby in conversation.

The vast majority of times I go to the footy it is by myself.

There was a few years where I had a family membership so dragged my wife and daughter along, but they weren't really interested. :(

So back to a single membership now. But don't really go that often these days anyway, but when I do it is by myself.

Part of joining the cheer squad was because I usually go to the footy alone. Good to have a group of mates to sit with who are all just as passionate as you are, and don't care if you stand up and cheer after every half decent piece of play.

MCC has this buddy system, where any supporter on his own is befriended by a veteran member. Same thing happens at the Australia Club, I am told.

Only joking! Surely you have friends who are members? If not in the H&A you use your membership to get in and then go into the public areas.

I don't go often at the moment, but have gone by myself many, many times. Now due to all the in-laws being MCC members, plus them having the magical "guest ticket", I go in the MCC all the time. I haven't gone through to the outer yet, I'm sure I will depending on who else I know going that day.

I've never been to game alone, but know other girls who will.

My brother in law used to go by himself all the time (no-one would go watch the Tigers with him during their grim times!). He met others in the same boat and now they go as a group.

I don't go much these days due to circumstances but in the days I went every week I'd often go alone as my mates were not as hardcore as me in going to the footy. The best thing when I went solo was I always ended up talking to people about the game so I never felt alone. Then when I went with my mates they'd be amazed at all the people I knew at the footy.

Don't be hung up on what people think of you, enjoy life and do the things that you like.

MCC membership is the best thing since sliced bread. I personally wouldn't pay to go to football by myself, but have been on limited occasions to the MCC by myself.

GA tickets to the MCC vary, finals they $120 on preliminary final weekend and $75 on semi final weekend. Some people have answered that it's $31 throughout the year and that sounds about right. Other suggestions to enter via the MCC and walk around to where your mates are good ones, but if I where you I'd even chip in say $5 a head for your mates to sit with you in MCC if they're that stingy in not wanting to pay an extra $10. Aside from generally avoiding f***wit supporters in the MCC, there facilities are by far the best at the MCG (Bullring bar is my personal favorite, great atmosphere and one of the only places at the G with a decently priced beer that's not midstrength).

Most times I go by my self as I have reserved seats at the G, Jihad and K'Park.

But I often meet up with people from BF at the pub before the game for a few quiet beers and a meal.

Is it weird to go alone?

If you are a grown man why do you need someone to hold your hand?

I've actually begun to prefer it. Standing room is where I hang out, closer to the bar to ease the nerves, can walk off the pressure, and always end up meeting randoms in the same boat who are into the Cats big time.
