Does luck come in three's?

Reason I ask is, nearly 4 weeks ago I had a shocking Sunday (broke up with gf, back together again now though; dog died; missed out on a uni place all together). 3 bad things happen.

Today I got a uni place, at Monash, which was my first preference, in the second round, completely out of the blue. This I found out 1 hour after I secured a job. Should I have bought a Powerball ticket for tonight? Or now do I have luck in the bank?

could be onto something there i remember when i was looking for work i had no responses for ages then all of a sudden i got 3 phonecalls in one day asking me to an interview!
