I think behind the scenes Mr Hart and Mr Schwabb would have asked (or will shortly be asking) Pav what he thought about CC and the job he is doing. I almost feel Pav's signature is more important than CC's and wonderredwhat your thoughts are on Pav's preference for a coach.
Merely speculation of course but I haven't heard Pav come out in support of CC yet. Have the media forgotten to ask this question because it's very significant?

PavnTaz, you seem like a decent sort of guy

But you are gonna have to lay off the crack,

It distorts normal thought process. :thumbsu:

It was a legitimate question peppy. It was rumoured that Pavlich was going to have some input into the coaching decision. I would rate the signature of Pavlich more of a priority than the signature of CC's.

Maybe PavnTaz isnt the one on crack....

I think it was rumoured on here which means you should take it with a 25kg bag of salt.

At this stage of the game, the powers that be will be well aware of what the players think and what CC's strength and weaknesses are. He's been there 6 years. Its extremely unlikely that Pav would have some big say. And I don't think he would want that responsibility.

It probably boils down to PR in that you just can't appoint a coach that doesn't get his team into finals -- for fans, sponsors and the media.

My point was that it was a legitimate question from PavnTaz. Pav may be questioned who knows, probably wont find out either way.

So if by some freak of nature ,we win 10 straight and storm into the finals, do you think Hart and the yuppie will ask Pav if it is OK to still sack CC.

I think the crew upstairs have a handle on what the mood is with the playing group. Reading the press reports it seems highly likely that CC is gawn if we do not play finals this year, no matter what Pav thinks.

Are you 100% sure that Pav will even re sign ? :thumbsu:

edit :Too quick Doc

All Rick Hart has said is CC would struggle to be retained if we missed the finals... If we win the next 10 id say he would be given another year if we dont he is gawn, if we just fall into the finals there is a decision to be made whether to stick with CC or get a replacement. Are you one of the guys upstairs? You seem to know what they are thinking... Pavlich is the captain and he may be asked for his opinion. Dont shoot PavnTaz down for asking a question which was legitimate, someone posted on here previously about Pav being consulted.

I think someone needs a chill pill, what do ya reckon ?

As Dr Dagg alluded to, 6 yrs is a long time in business

Again, will Pav be here next year ? nb. this is a rhetorical question, get it !

You would think the board would ask the opinion of it's biggest star and the captain on the abilities or lack thereof of the current head coach when it's obvious they are going to review.

If not, then you would have to question the board's ability/procedures to run the club.

I posted a similar thread on the main board.

I do think that not only Pav but many other senior players are "determing" play to try sort out the problems with the coaching staff themselves!

I call it player tanking (playing bad to get rid of or sort out the higher end of the club) and I think it may be going on.

I know I am about to get ripped from many by this but I just sense it may be happening!

I must admit, in my crazier moments this thought had occurred to me too. Of course it's just that - crazy. No professional players would throw away a whole season and the chance of success to try force a coaching change.

But still, the crazy side of my brain will be watching the players with interest now the club has made it clear CC will probably be gone if he doesn't make the finals.

Well Jeffery came out on Seven News last night , saying it was up to the players to win enough games to have the coach's contract extended.

When asked if He would like to see CC's contract extended . He replied , "Certainly!"

If pav wasnt happy it would effect his game you would think and I agree that it is strange they havent asked him by now or even last year at the break.

I just sense body language, not just from the Pavster but most of the senior players.

There's something that just isn't making sense

I'm going to brag for a second but bear with me. I was once on the National Executive of an organisation with 140,000 members.

One of the things that never ceased to amaze me was what consitituent representatives thought we did in the "inner sanctum". Wé'd meet on a regular basis, review the financials and make relatively straight forward decisions about how to spend money, and argue about policy.

Then for the next 8 weeks people would ascribe all sorts of convoluted theories as to our motives and breeding and abilities. Then we'd meet again and it would start all over.

This thread is one of those. It just too complex to be feasible. In real organisations, 99.9% of the time it's competency not conspiracy. Indidvidual players may not perform well under Connolly but as to tanking. Not a chance.

I hope so Daggs, for the team sake:)

I will admit though that things smell funny at the moment but I am prepared to see how things pan out for now; MAYBE!!

Also, Mr Dagg, it seems a lot of people haven't played and worked their guts out long term on the list (professional or amateur) of a footy/soccer/rugby team because you just don't 'tank' or whatever.

Even losing teams at your local park have a culture an when you play and work week in week out, then magnify that to the upper echelons..you get my drift.

Tanking. You have to be kidding. I don't think J Carr is tanking when he dives under every pack and Pav doesn't ask 3 defenders to stand next to him all day, nor does he aim for the points instead of goals.
We lost the Essendon game because of a couple of biased 50m penalties and a disallowed goal against Soloman, lost to Bulldogs because we didn't kick straight and finish the game by half time and Collingwood could have gone either way.
We could easily be 8-4 and in the top 4 had someone not run over a cat as they drove under a ladder.:(

Pav endorses CC. Its the older players like McManus Cook Black who dont get on with him all that well. Mark Harvey has helped to quell problems between CC and the older blokes which has helped though.

I'm sure the guys that Connolly has really backed in support him and would like to him to stay (Headland, Farmer, Schammer, Thornton, McPharlin, Dodd, Sandilands). But some of the senior players don't seem to like him (Bell, the Carrs, Macca and Pav), along with the fringe players (Webster, Gilmore, Cook, Murphy).

I wonder what it is exactly that Bell, Black, Macca and others dosen't like about CC?
