It's always better to have a partner who barracks for another side than to have a partner who has no interest in footy.

When you go out with someone who doesn't like footy, they say things like, "Why do you want to watch the replay? Didn't you see the game today?", "You want to go to the footy again? But you went last week!", "You love your footy team more than you love me", and "What did you mean by you'd be happy for Digby Morrell to f*ck me as much as he wants as long as he gets 6 goals this weekend?".

I was just about to say this!

Went out with a bloke who had no interest. Lasted a week (finals). Also when your housemate has no interest it's hard too. I go into the zone whenever something comes on TV about Carlton, and there is no talking during the Footy Show.

"Who's that?"
"Matthew Richardson"
"Who does he play for?"
"Richmond"
"Who do you go for again?"
"Carlton"
"They're blue aren't they?"
"Yes"

Good call, I lived with a girl who disliked football. It was torture.

I don't mind going out with someone who barracks for another team, any future partner will be someone who at least likes football, they don't have to be a rabid supporter.

I went out with two Port supporters (separate occaisions of course.. damn it), trust me I didn't change for them, in fact it made things very interesting when our teams were pitted against each other.

My girlfriend is a bangwagon jumper, she likes whoevers winning, so there's no problem because it means she usually goes for Collingwood anyway. :p

Unlike the Collingwood fans, the Carlton fans know the correct way to use cutlery when you take them to Jacques Reymond for dinner.

I've never been invited to Jacques house - where does he live?

Better Carlton than Collingwood.

Met a Fremantle supporter recently and we hit it off, during the discussion about football she told me that she used to be a Collingwood supporter before the Dockers were formed.

I had to stop seeing her, I guess some closet skeletons are unforgivable. ;)

Yeah coz sure as hell it's not me, although the fact I go for the Crows lifts my credibility rating a few notches! :D

I'd only go out with a Crows supporter if she cant provide documented proof of at least a 10 year allegiance to an SANFL club prior to the Crows admission to the AFL and continued support of said SANFL club after the Crows establishment. Otherwise there is no credibility.

What if they weren't born in 1981 like my goodself or didn't live in the state until 1991 like my goodself?

 Heard these lines too often.
For a short period of time I was getting ignored by her if I mentioned her name in the same sentence as footy. Needless to say it didn't last.

Possiblity;) of a Hawks-St.Kilda thing happening, which doesn't bother me too much as I do enjoy watching the Saints, at least until the brainwashing begins..

I think it makes footy more interesting when you can discuss things about your team with the other person and see their point of view. It makes for interesting debates! :p

But to answer the question, no it doesn't really. I certainly take more interest in the other team but I'd never barrack for them..I mean who would ever change to the pies? You'd have to be young and stupid for that! ;)
