I think he will be alright. Its early in the week.

If by chance he doesn't come up, there are plenty of options to come in. As good as Dogga has been, we can cover running types.

How the wheel of fortune changes so quickly Stiffy!!

Only 2 years ago our depth appeared to be tissue thin.

A couple of good players out back then and we'd all be groaning that we were knackered and couldn't win.

So far this season we've covered up to 8 out and still won.

We've come a long way in those 2 years. :thumbsu:

ANd the most impressive bit is that we have done that with relatively minimal changes to the list.

In Craig's first off season as a coach he only delisted ONE player and that was James Gallagher.

He got rid off a few more at the end of last season but overall there haven't be too many changes to the list as far as delisting is concerned. Granted there were a few retirements along the way.

Agreed he can be covered but will be missed.

Has been in our top 3 players for the last couple IMO.

Perhaps a chance to blood Dougie + gives him a chance to head home and see the rellies.

I thought you were going to say he was in doubt with a neck injury, from when Sinclair slammed his head into the ground when he took a mark :( I can't believe he got up after that

even more than that, I think there is almost a sense of anticipation as it provides an opportunity for someone to get a game.

Seem to remember doomsdayers talking about 3-5 years of rebuilding b4 we would challenge for a flag

In two years have lost Smith, Stenglein, and Watts (most important losses) gained Van Berlo and Thompson yet we have significantly progressed.

Any team in the AFL is a stones throw away from contending...a few of the right players, good coach, good gameplan and a bit of luck from the footy gods is all you need.

Unless you're Carlton. :D

Saw Carlton against Collingwood and in the first half they matched the Woods....No I subscribe to the theory that 3-4 players, the right players for the Carlton structure, and they would be as competitive as anyone.

The right players for the Carlton structure? They need someone pretty much everywhere except full-forward and wherever Fattie Whitnall is playing.

Need a CHB, FB and 2-3 more quality midfielders ....Kennedy was raved about on the weekend...going to be a big brut and moves well. Fev at FF, defence is the issue and more midfield quality rotations.

I am not happy about this. Dogga has been in fine fettle of late. I wonder if this could open up a spot for Dougie Hauser.

INS: Bode, Bassett, Dougie
OUTS: Stevens, Dogga, Knights

I don't agree. You can pour good players into a club - if the culture is wrong, then nothing will improve. What Craig has done has change the culture that existed under Ayers, and gotten the absolute most out of the list.

I think Whitnall has been one of the best CHB this year. The question is, are Carlton better served having him in having him in the forward or the backline? For now, he's performing great down back.
On topic though, it's a real shame if Dogga were to miss because he's been in career best form at the moment. It's still early in the week though so hopefully he'll be alright.
Maybe 'young' Michael Doughty is starting to mature as the years go on...although he's pretty good for his age. What would he be now? 22? 23? I remember when he debuted as an 11 year old for the Crows. :p

I reckon I have been on the 2007 flag reunion timeframe for quite some time

But Doughty is one of 6-7 that are interchangeable and while his experience will be missed his replacement will learn more and get as many touches

I would have thought losing Smith was actually a gain. We gained a valuable free spot on our list to draft, well anyone.:o
