Who buys from EB?
Price matching with the added bonus of 7 day returns, who doesnt?
This. If you aren't paying their dumb sticker prices they are good, 7 day returns are a godsend. Don't use it often but to get the full price back on a dog of a game is good

Is it a hard game? I feel like I'd get overwhelmed with so many baddies coming right at me and I'll die and turn it off.
Its not so bad on "hurt me plenty" difficulty, although there has been times I have been stuck on a set piece for maybe a dozen respawns or so.

Generally its a case of just keep moving and you eventually explore enough areas to find a powerup or something that turns the tide.

As long as you don't try and go all call of duty and pick enemies off from cover, you're fine.

That rune level were you have 1% life and have to pick up armor did my head in. :drunk:
I did one last night with 1 health and you had to kill 10 demons by exploding barrels with a shotty. That was fun, little too close when you explode a barrel...dead. Demon brushes you, dead.

Those rune challenges are flipping hard!

Did you use your 7 day return, Mancey?

Nah, didn't get a chance to do the campaign in the week. Not mad, game is good

I spent half an hour on "the rich get richer" rune trial where you need to kill 14 enemies without regenerating health. Drove me up the wall.

Then the next rune trial in the same level was "kill 9 enemies with a critical health level of 1" and nailed it first go.

Have been playing this a fair bit over the last few days. Its absolutely fantastic.

They have so well nailed the Doom feel, I don't know how they managed to do it but it feels like the old Doom games just in the modern day of gaming.

The game is supremely fast, looks pretty good and offers a good challenge as well.

The music is outstanding too, love the deep bass of the music pumping out into the headphones as you run around like crazy in an arena battle. Then the relief of the sound dying out once that fight is over.

Still yet to find an old Doom room which is annoying, despite looking thoughroughly around each level. Will probably have to look the locations up at some stage.

My biggest worry now is that I'm close to the end and I really don't want it to finish!

Finished it last night, such an adrenaline rush. Game never felt cheap or frustrating with level designs that complemented the movement system perfectly.

Combat was amazing and felt rewarding to the point that even though you could clearly see how repetitive it was getting, you just wanted more and more. It seemed the more enemies they threw at you the more enjoyable it got.

Ending leaves it open for a sequel and no doubt we'll get one. We've been blessed with some amazing old school shooter IPs this gen. Both Wolfenstein games and now Doom. Would like to see Quake next, but with its multiplayer developed in house and not palmed off like Dooms.

So general consensus, Single Player - Awesome, MP - Don't touch with a ten foot pole?

Really seems odd they went with MP for the Beta.

It's a beta, not a demo. It makes complete sense to go for MP.

They were confident in the SP running fine, working well and being (relatively) bug free.

MP is next to impossible to know until you get a wide audience playing it.

That being said, from what I've seen of Snapmap, it seems there could be some really cool things happening with that and it's not necessarily just MP content. Seems like it could be open to almost creating new 'story levels'. Once I'm done with the single player story I'm definitely going to check out some creations.

I get what you're saying but a little taste of single might have gotten me over the line for an impulse.

Just finished it up and where I thought I was in my last post about my progress turned out to be only about mid-way through. So overall now I feel like the game length ended up being perfect. I don't feel the extreme need to go back now.

As for the game, it was just incredibly fun.

Not much more to add from my last post, except that the credits sequence was really cool and ended on a great crescendo, overall a highly recommendable game. Especially at the price it was ($69 at Big W).

Loved it. I really want more from the experience so it looks like I'll go trophy hunting.

Just platinumed it. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
