yeah i picked it up during the steam sales and was instantly impressed with the gameplay. the minute to minute gunplay was almost like playing multiplayer quake re hitting your targets while dodging and utilising map awareness.

however, one massive criticism from me was the checkpoint system, which had me re-playing some sections over and over which was really painful sometimes (such as having to run around and pick up all the items before beginning an encounter). nightmare difficulty was brutal, so i got to experience the checkpoint system's shortfalls way more than id like.

otherwise though, nearly flawless title that i got about 25 hours out of. i hope there's a sequel.

With exceptionto doom/doom eternal (doom I have on xbox and pc, but I only ever did a free play session of doom eternal) I've collected and re collected most of the DooM franchise over the years (from the 3"5 disks, to the digital age).

When they were last released they were an instant buy on the Nintendo Switch (hand held doom was something I hadn't done before). And purchased doom/doom 2 on xbox (again after buying g them on the xbox 360 back in the day).

DooM 64 was also a new experience. But gee I'd love them to port over the Playstation version of Doom (which in itself combined doom/doom 2 in 1 meaty package).
