Plenty of memories of Oak Park. Both my sisters lived in Oak Park when I was a younger man. A friend of my brother ran the service station on the corner across the road from railway station. I certainly pounded the pavement around the northern golf course (down Cardinal Rd, along Boundary Rd, up West Street, back along Glenroy Rd to where I lived at 14 Isla Ave) when I was young boy with a dream. We’re almost Paese!Isn't it fantastic watching footy videos from another era, still amazed at the skill levels from 70 years ago!!
I'm pretty sure your correct, King Richard did have the newsagents in Snell Grove a few doors up from the fish and chip shop. Just around the corner across the road from the railway station in Waterloo Road was the TAB, where Jimmy Buckley and myself used to pop down to at lunchtimes sometimes when we were doing our year 12 (HSC) at Oak Park High.
Now that is a trip down memory lane![]()
