I like Sonja. Hard worker, decent person.....

BUT

This whole objective to be 'nice', and 'inclusive', and 'diverse' steers us away from what we were when winning flags in the 90s.

We were scrappy, tough and uncompromising. A real 'them against us' organisation. Im not saying thats what we revert back to now......back then we did it with facilities that were hardly considered elite.

Look now. Look at what clubs like Hawthorn, and Brisbane and a few others have built. Elite facilities, with an 'in your face' attitude. Flexing their muscle.

We have no muscle to flex, but hey - the girls are elite (no discredit to them, im proud of what they've done but our main focus should be on the core business), we do come across as soft.

Mongrel is needed on the board.

North people have been incredibly patient through a long period of horrendously poor performance on field. Stability, in general, is good but I'm struggling to believe that some pressure for results is a bad thing.

We are irrelevant. We are a joke on field and a joke in terms of recruiting players to come to us. We do ok and probably punch above our weight off field in terms of dollars. The world is on its head.

Playing for, working for, going for North Melbourne needs to get back to meaning something more than being a punching bag that can be pitied.

I think we all accepted that after not rebuilding ever an stuck in mediocrity for almost 20 years we needed to rebuild.

Fans were sold it and accepted it.

That was at the end of 2020, its now 2026, its time.

across the realms of time there have been plenty of 'stable' sporting organisations that have never achieved anything.

While stability is a good thing, a ruthless and competitive edge is also equally important. The latter we severely lack at all layers of the club (Board, Coaching, On field etc)

If after two years, you can’t imprint a noticeable and effective gamestyle, either offensive or defensive, then you should be shown the door.

Clarkson has shown that he is no longer capable of that because a) his preferred style is defunct b) his teaching method is pox or c) the players don’t trust what is being taught.

I think it's actually worse to reference the success of the Women's Team as some sort of gotcha though. I mean it's great and all, good luck to the girls, but it don't mean much when we're still laborious shit in the comp that keeps the lights on.

Said it years ago when bard was still coaching and will say it again now, clubs like ours cannot afford a full rebuild.

Don’t have a big crowd to play for, can’t fast track by bringing in players (bc no one will come), nor even a genuine fear of losing your place in a big club. Anything that gets you that extra % effort doesn’t exist.

The only tool you have is the internal judgement by your peers. Which we tried by bringing in mature ppl like darling, daniel and parker but still failed. The ladies team have nailed it. They will play for each other.

Getting Clarko was a miracle in itself, a new factor to get us out of the mess, it was someone to look up to, trust and play for. A lifeline. And we managed to squander that as well.

We’ve already cleaned out the club. how may times did Carlton and Melbourne have to clean out? Was it really the solution or was it something else that worked the 50th time?

We actually look good onfield when there’s zero pressure, everything clicks so nicely and works. but as soon as the oppo ups it we fold so damn easily or turn it over.

Maybe it’s more about finding the right mix of players to maximise the jigsaw that is teamwork.

The board got a coach most considered to be elite and the agent of change. I have no issue with what they have done from a football perspective.

2026, though is the year when this decision reaches its moment of truth and if we fail and nothing is done then I would agree the board needs to be held to account.

Willingness to recognize what’s being by done isn’t working.

She did it with Noble.

The fact she’s tied herself to Clarkson makes it difficult to make the same call.

Most of the pressure should be on Clarko, Viney and Kevin and Brady.
