D Stewart is a curious one. Could be tempting.

Would be free now :P. Don't think he's up to it personally.

Are any other clubs basically locked in to prospects? Our third and fourth rounders will most likely be going to academy bids. North's first to McDonald unless they get lucky.

Essendon can't bid for father sons but it doesn't look like either of the prospects (I think there's just the two?) will be out of reach in terms of draft range regardless.

Pies/Dogs supporters - any chance of Kelly/Foster being a look-in? Just trying to work it out in my head.

Good stuff with the thread, handy this time of year :thumbsu:

A little early but just wanted to get an idea of which draft picks everyone will have. Let me know if/where I'm wrong and I'll update as things evolve.

the comp pick that collingwood received for josh fraser was traded that year to your mob, you have held it ever since

Thanks man... You don't know where that sits do you? should the eagles use it next year?

Thanks man... You don't know where that sits do you? should the eagles use it next year?

pretty sure it is tied to collingwoods finishing position, so if it were activated this year it would have been pick 46 at this stage (likley to be pushed back as daisy/buddy/etc comp picks are allocated)

if it were to be used next year you want collingwood to finish lower down the ladder to increase the picks value...

the actual trade in 2010
Coll Gain: Pick 46 (Daniel Farmer)
Coll Loss: 3rd Round Comp Pick (Josh Fraser)
WC Gain: 3rd Round Comp Pick (tied to Coll)
WC Loss: 3rd Round Draft Selection

some sources show your 3rd round seletion as pick 45 which it was at the time of the trade, however it became 46 when north activated its end of 1st round comp pick (received via campbell brown then the david hale trade). pick 45 used by collingwood to select alex fasolo was gained as part of the chris tarrant trade.

Will Ricky Henderson get a second round draft pick for the crows?

what priority pick would Collingwood get if they lose dale thomas to free agency?

what priority pick would Collingwood get if they lose dale thomas to free agency?
Depends on the contract he accepts and the whim of the AFL that week. Most likely band 1 (after Collingwood's first round pick so 11 assuming no other shifts in draft order), possibly band 2 (end of first round, 19 before further shifts). If Franklin does sign with another club Thomas might be regarded as being worth band 2 as his contract will be most likely be significantly less.

What brainiac wrote the rule that compo picks should be tied to draft positions? Obviously I have a vested interest in what Hawthorn get for Fanklin, but a system that could see Franklin on a $10M new deal net Hawthorn pick 18, and Thomas on a $2.5M deal net Collingwood pick 11 is a joke. Why not just make the compo start, mid or end of round? Hopefully the "expert panel" recommend to the GM that Hawthorn receive something else.

The theory probably is that a team up the top is better placed to cope with the loss of a star player while a team down the bottom more will suffer more greatly.

In
I've seen Geelong with Pick 14 and others with them with pick 15.

After Finals did the finish 3rd or 4th. I assume 3rd.

'Natural' pick would be 16 for finishing 3rd. Remove Adelaide and Essendon and it goes to 14. GWS have an activated pick that they banked that bumps you back to 15. Thomas comp pick could push you back to 16.

How strong is the draft this year? Most other years it's very hard to pry an early pick but this year clubs seem to be trading them much easier. I'm just wondering if it's because the draft this year is weak or is it because of something else?
