No, i think carlton will draft the best key position player and the best midfielder

We simply have to take the best players available with our priority, and rounds 1 & 2, no matter what position they play. If they all happen to be midfielders, then so be it.

From what I saw of the under 18 carnival, I believe these four are the best available at the top end of the draft:

1. M.Murphy
2. X.Ellis
3. S.Hurn
4. M.Clarke

We can start drafting for need/speculating from Round 3 onwards.

Murphy and Clark I prefer to Hurn. Clark has real size and might take a few years but is a better prospect than Hurn if we are patient.
Would like use to use some trades and our second and third round picks to move up in the order of the draft.
Campo and pick 19 to get pick 10 or something like that.
Whitnall traded for pick 15 to 20.

With the way the draft looks at the moment any pick from 6 to 30 is just as likely to get a quality player in the future.
Kenneddy, Ryder, Jones, Drum are 4 blokes who played well at the games I saw. Each player could go at pick 6 or pick 20 at this stage. Having more picks in that range is what we need.
Varcoe who was injured would be a good long term prospect being qucik and very young. Grae Grant who was not picked in the WA team but had big wraps should not be forgotten either.

I don't think anyone is a better prospect than Hurn. Hurn hasn't even had a normal pre-season. Instead he's been playing cricket every summer. ATM Hurn's main issue is his pace and endurance. This will no doubt be improved apon when he finally completes a footy pre-season. By then he will undoubtably be the pick of the draft.

IMO?.... Yes

It won't matter though, as we'll have both. :)

Funky, I've put this on the Carlton board a couple of times for you, but you may not have seen the question.

What do you think of Austin Lucy from Qld? If he was still around for our second pick, would you look at taking him?
