Draft Televised?

Will it be on foxtel this year? or free to air tv.. anyone know if they are going to do that ridiculous reverse 10 order again?
My mate told me that he read somewhere that they will be skipping picks 11 to 26 or something. I sure hope this isn't the case or will we have to click the red button on the foxtel remote to catch the rest of the picks.

Doubt they would skip picks 11-26 as last year after the first round a third of people stopped watching the draft.

Last year I refused to watch, and listened to SEN instead.

Two years ago was a disgrace. They televised the first round (including that stupid idea of having pick 10 first !? WTF?) but then chatted among themselves while the draft went on. It was by far the worst attempt at televising a live sporting event I have ever witnessed in my entire life.

The 10 to 1 idea assumes the viewer knows nothing about the draftees. Of course, the only people who want to watch the draft already know a fair bit about it, so the concept does not work. One rumour I heard suggested they might do the entire first round (26 picks) in reverse order! What next? The whole draft in reverse? The rookie draft before the real draft? What a joke. Let's play the finals before the H&A rounds, that should make it more exciting!

It reminds me of the way they advertised color TV's when I was a kid. We only had a b/w TV so we couldn't see the colors in the ad anyway. The only people who could see the colors already had a color TV! Total waste of time.

It'll be worse in the coming years when 8-10 different teams have the top 10 picks rather than GWS having 8 of the top 10 picks.

When 1 team has 80% of the top 10 picks, there's little to no suspense as to who they're going to pick as it's more like a squad selection and where they're picked is kind of irrelevant at the end of the day.

10-1 is just the stupidest thing they have ever done.
There is no suspense at all for the first few picks as everyone already knows who it is, the suspense usually comes after pick 5 or so...

Unfortunately Fox Sports coverage is just a 90 minute Dick Measuring contest between Jason Dunstall and Liam Pickering, with Shifter Sheehan looking on awkwardly and try to interupt occasionally to talk about the Draft.

SEN is the way to go if you want to hear selections as they happen.

The AFL call up the draftees in the 10-1 order, so either SEN will be the same or they'll be starting 10 minutes late.

Did just that 2 years ago in the last uncomprimised draft & pointed out that as you get down to Pick 1 the %ages of who is going to be picked is more certain therefore the suspense is less.
As pointed out this reasoning goes over the idiots at the AFL.
Now with GWS it makes it even more of a ridiculous affair.

spot on there,i was keen to see all clubs making decisions or getting extra time instead all we got was interviews of family members.i could not believe what they were doing.

I used to think the AFL was out of touch. Now I realise they're just stupid.

Surely the ONLY interest in the top 10 is the first five so there's some interest in whether Port gets Wingard or not.
