Jesus Christ how are you people still talking about Jamie Cripps for pages and pages on end. This was a topical discussion to be had in April, when someone pointed out the shear madness retaining on the list would be. Accept it. Move on. As we all must.

The 3 reasons we don't move Jamie to the rookie list are these:

1. Yes, it is disrespectful. People who mention Matera and Jackovich obviously just don't understand the esteem Crippa is held in within the 4 walls of the club. Its a different era, back then Malthouse wasn't above dropping the great John Worsfold from a finals series and ending his career before any of us were ready, unthinkable these days to do that to a premiership player within a sniff of 300 games. Also, I mean the guy was our leading goal kicker in 2025 and has never played a game from the beagles ffs, he's not going to the damn rookie list.

2. Do you realise that there actually isn't any room on the rookie list? They gave us 4 more, we took off Loch Rawlinson. And have added Dev Roberson, Colin McRae, Tom Mitchell and expect Wes Walley and Tony Evans to be added in the draft. Its full. And what about SSP's?

3. Yeah ok there are many uncontracted players on the list without deals for 2027. But actually most will get deals through the season [as thats usually when players in the last year of their deals sign contracts] and without Cripps being delisted next year yes we will actually struggle to make room for our draft hand. If we draft someone into his spot we can't delist that kid until 2027 at the earliest. We all have our draft favourites we'd be taking with that 6th spot, and **** if I'm not keen on Cody Curtin still. But the club is going to take tall's next year [rucks and kpd's looking good] while also having better NGAS to satisfy, and the obligatory midfielders and half backs to draft with our first rounders.

The club knows whats what.

Now stop it, anyone would think you're all obsessed with the bloke or something.

Interesting. What’s your version? His story was pretty detailed about who he spoke to and asking them whether he should test etc.
There was a legitimate medical reason he didn’t test. He could have had a virus or whatever it was (I haven’t listened to it) on top of it but even if he didn’t he still wouldn’t have tested.

Right. He mentioned tonsillitis which then progressed into a quinsy throat infection. He mentions getting a hole in the back of his throat to treat that. But they normally just drain those so I suspect he got a bit mixed up when he discussed that aspect.

All before heading to Fiji after the combine.

I’d like yo know your story.

If bro had a quinsied throat infection he was pretty crook. No way he would be testing following his tonsils being drained.

I remember when I had strep throat (3 times in a year, damn childcare), I felt so crook that I'd rather just about piss myself than haul myself to the toilet. Ended up fainting on the bathroom floor and had to go to hospital. She's not fun.

I know he's had hip issues on and off but he was definitely crook at the time as well. How bad, is anyones guess.

If that’s what he said he’s telling porky pies.
Hey eaglevision, sorry I didn't reply to you the other day on the mock draft, truth be told I wasn't sure how to, so I thought I would come over and find you, I looked everywhere but nada, anyway thank you for the suggestion. :)

All fair reasoning - the main thing I'd "push back" a bit on so to speak is the weighing of Pick 11. Note that in my original post, I suggest FF2 and FF3 (as in the 2027 picks), not the 2026 ones, plus 41 - I think this does change the calculus, as the picks will be lower than the 2026 versions (you'll probably be better in 2027, but also, Tassie exists). I can't say I'm across your upcoming F/S and NGAs, so can weigh in less on whether 2026 vs 2027 makes a difference on that front though.

Only other thing - I thought the consensus was more that within the first 20 or so players, there was a reasonable level of quality, but that it fell off a little more after that point? (so Pick 11, even if it ends up being Pick 15 after bids etc., is of significantly higher value than say Pick 30)

Happy that my thought experiment from a few days ago is still getting discussion. :p

I would say there are 3 tiers with who is available.

Tier 1
Duursma
CDT
Robey
Sharp
Annable (Lions)
Uwland (GC)
Patterson (GC)
Dean (Carl)
Taylor

Tier 2
Cumming
Grlj
Schubert
Dovaston
Farrow
Lindsay

Tier 3
Marsh
Greeves
Phillipou
Hargreaves
Barker
King (Swans)
Taylor
Sweid (Bombers)
Ludowyke
Pickett
Ison (Carl)
Kyle (Swans)
Adinsall (GC)
Thredgold
Nairn

I’ve used Twomey as a guide and but haven’t ranked them however it is generally accepted that

The top 5 has 2 available

top 9 has 5 available

Top 15 has 11 available

Top 30 has 21 available

Not only is it a massively compromised draft but it’s also not a very strong one.

The game here is quality over quantity which is why so many clubs are looking to trade up.

It’s not an insulting trade suggestion and on paper it might look practical however we don’t need to top up on picks in this draft, take the cream of it, add an few club tied players and move on.

I appreciate you are looking for some extra points to help match for Dean and Ison and make your future acquisition of Walker easier but if I was in charge of the Eagles decision making here the juice wouldn’t be worth the squeeze.

Dyson sounds very mature for an 18 year old. We would do very well making in an Eagle. It will be beneficial for his health as he commented about the cold weather - meaning he should not be living in Melbourne

I think this should be made public. It is a clear human rights issue if this young kid is forced to live in Melbourne

What are we hoping out of CDT as a ruck?
The last time any rucks went so high were Jackson (3), Kreuzer(1) (Grundy (18)?

Kreuzer never fulfilled his potential, he was awesome as a junior both through the middle and as a forward.
Jackson was dominant in the middle despite not playing all that much forward.

CDT is nowhere near what Kreuzer was doing and I think he likely ends up as Peter Wright more than anything.

I think CDT is more of a mobile KPP. He need.to develop hi strength, but his speed, endurance and athleticism would make a very good KPF or KPB.

We haven't added Dev , if he is going on the rookie list he has to be drafted in the rookie draft, no one has spoken to Tom Mitchell and Colin McRae died in 2007 when he crashed his helicopter

New power rankings from another draft watcher. Has Evans at 30 and Williams at 48. Lowest Ive seen CDT also at 6

Not enough novel lists like this.

Evans is comfortably the best prospect out of the NGA and F/S boys we have, we’re lucky he has missed most of the year because he would’ve went top 15-25 imo.
We have to pray that he somehow gets through the ND without attracting a bid. Our only hope if that happens is if we've been able to keep an extra main list spot somehow which isn't publically known yet (i.e. being able to keep Maric on the rookie list along with Hutchinson still on there) or we pass on Williams (but Evans may not be even be bid on, so we'd be kicking ourselves).
It's gonna be a nervous wait to find out what will happen. We might have to make some tough decisions.

Tells everyone to move on from the topic.
Proceeds to post war & peace about the topic.

Speaks so well. Seems very keen to develop all aspects of his game. Has that professional mindset already which is impressive.

Draft profile reads so well:

OVERVIEW

Was one of star performers in the Croweaters National Under 18 Championship. The tough midfielder led from the front as captain of the side and was integral to South Australia’s superb onball brigade and was crowned South Australia’s Most Valuable Player in the carnival and was also named vice-captain in the Under-18 All-Australian side. His consistent performances across the carnival showcased his prolific ball winning capabilities and clean disposal by foot and hand. His leadership qualities have been widely admired with South Australia’s success in the championships and will increase his reputation to club recruiters. Has has been continually challenged on his speed and acceleration from the contest and across the ground, which is an aspect of his game that will be improved with time. Has solidified himself as one of the top midfielders in this year’s draft pool and will be a great get for the club that selects him on draft night.

STRENGTHS:

  • Leadership
  • Accumulation
  • Clean disposal
  • Dual-sided
  • Contested Ability
  • Strength
  • Tackling
Luke Valente would suit WC perfectly as a much needed Mid ;) .
