With regards to Mcqualters game plan and what players he likes. You can say he would 100% want Duursma and Robey. Both fit his game plan. Someone like Robey he would froth over.

Watched some more CDT vision today to try and allow myself to accept that we are going to pick him.

Still cannot understand why he is rated so highly. All I saw was a lot of average ruck work and a bunch of chest marks.
I can understand why people don't want him at pick 1 or 2 but we can't deny the talent he has.

He does everything at ground level we wish baz would and everything in front of goals we wish Archer could do. Also wish flynn had his running ability. Very risky still but far from a squib.

Can I ask those more in the know around specifics like this - how is Murphy Reid’s two way game and is he strong with defensive transition?

The reason I ask is he’s clearly a natural and smooth mover in traffic with great game sense similarly to Sharp and also isn’t particularly quick

Hey now, Archer could totally kick 2 goals 5 in a game.

You guys are so hung up on CDTs height.

He will be the modern version of Blicavs.
And potentially a much better version.

He's a talent for sure. Just not a bustling first ruck

Same height as Jackson and TDK and may still grow.

Couldnt find Jackson's vertical leap numbers, not sure he tested?

Anyone got testing comparisons between the three?

There is no Rowell or Anderson in this draft, and either way there is no way to guarantee a 100% success rate.

Be realistic
I think Duursma is 100% going to be a very good player.

If there is any doubt, then splitting the pick is giving a realistic chance of nailing it.

So what would you do hard nut?

AFAIK Jackson tested extremely well in both leaps, outperforming CDT by at fair few maybe up to 5cm in both. If I find the exact numbers I’ll post them

You realise there's an art to being able to pull off the Joe the goose move? You beat your opponent back to goal with your ability to read the game and being athletically superior - two extremely valuable traits imo.
Technically a jo the goos but not in my books when you're stationary like a plank of wood and through sheer luck / shanked kick, you take the ball. Plus I was being kind, I believe one or 2 goals were from dubious free kicks. I stand corrected if im wrong

At least with dursma he has a scope to be a very good winger/ HBF if he doesnt become a mdfielder.

CDT needs to develop into a good ruck/ centre type ruck to justify the pick.

Neither players improve our biggest weakness which is hard ball gets and ground level game

I think the eagles will take Duursma @ 1 and CDT @ 2

Like others I'd love to see us trade pick 2 & 13 for 5 & 6 (And then take Sharp/Cumming), but I don't think it's going to eventuate.

I just think as it stands people need to open up to the idea of us taking CDT with 2 as if we hold that pick I would be surprised if we went with sharp.

Apologies if I came across as rude earlier, that wasn't my intention.

HUN reporting that West Coast planning a draft bombshell with a bid on Harry Dean with pick 2.

A McGovern replacement. That would take all of pick 9 and push 11 to the second round. Failing that, Cavanagh reporting that Tigers will bid on him.

That could be an interesting discussion.

Blues - what price for 9? We like Harry a lot. So do Tigers.

Option 1.
Trade us 9 for 13 +33
Draft goes
  1. Eagles Duursma
  2. Suns match Uwland
  3. Lions match Annables
  4. Suns match Patterson
  5. Eagles player xxx
  6. Tigers bid on Dean - Blues need 90% of 1,659 =1,493
Option 2
No deal on 9

  1. Eagles Duursma
  2. Eagles bid on Dean - Blues need 90% of 2,481=2,233

Blues either match at 2 or 6. Difference is 740 points.

Hopefully this is the year the clubs with the first picks really make the other clubs pay for players with bids.

Not that I think we'd care that much, but surely the go home factor would be larger poaching a father/son from one of Victoria's biggest clubs?

Agree Duursma is the standout but is he better than Sharp and Cumming combined if we did split pick 1?

I'd prefer to take Duursma and worry about splitting two. Would be something ridiculous for 1 to get traded.

Dean is overrated. I'd hate to bid on him at 2 and then the Blues not match. Would be a disaster.
