I like this option , the guy has wheels and tricks.. easily slot in Ryan’s position
I think he might be linked to another club, so has the potential to be matched if selected before 20. I like him though, looks like he definitely has some x factor. Mature ager as well, so could possibly slot in from r1

Try again. Dyson Sharp as a bottom ager completely dominated in a game with Sid draper draft class.

If you ask Sid draper himself he would rate Sharp ahead. There is a reason why as a bottom age Sharp played as a mid and was a core midfielder with Draper

The fact remains Sharp CV is the most decorated since Rowell

Not sure if you would have said the same thing last year. You seemed a massive fan of Draper.

Sure these posts don't mention Sharp and doesn't contradict your point.

However, you do mention we wouldn't have to worry about missing out on a promising player if we had drafted Draper. Surely that player was Sharp given your view that it was so obvious as a bottom ager he was tracking better than Draper?

I do also think Sharp’s intangibles are ignored a bit when thinking of potential. He is a leader and competitor. Both traits are excellent for a young team.

Yes I love Sid draper. That is why it hurts for me to make that argument. But builds a case that Dyson Sharp is that good.

Dyson Sharp was a core part of the SA midfield in Draper year. They formed a partnership.

Guys cmon.
Livingstone, Jamieson have just been delisted. Barnett isn't getting another contract.. open your eyes.
Rucks are no good, they're getting DELISTED! so we should in no way shape or form take CDT or probably any ruck..ever

This thread has started to turn to sh1t - ever since the contracts thread was closed. It was rightfully closed as all the trades and contracting has been done and we are now only drafting or signing. No complaints to our Mods.

When I first asked Keys to seperate the threads, it was to avoid Briskent and a bunch of eaglekents tediously going on and on with a point somehow believing multi quoting over and over again the same old crap believing another 10 pages will convince others or prove a point.

The draft only thread was informative and I received a load of thanks that it had made a huge difference.

What is it like this last week? My analogy is that someone wants to take Sydney Bernice Sweeney on a date but others put her down because she is blond. Meanwhile there are those wanting to take Ana Celia de Armas Caso on a date and are ridiculed because she is Cuban. All these input yet very few here bother going to games, very few talk to their U18 development coached and very few have been involved in drafting or U18 coaching.

The emotion on the board is odd - neither Massey or Clarke are going to take our input no matter how many times it is multi quoted and played back time and time again. This is meant to be fun not combative. . Maybe we could be more civil to each other. It has been a bloody long and difficult 3 years. We have a great draft hand. Like the Melbourne Cup, we all think we know how to pick a winner.

If we're asking for the impossible, I'd like a date with Keira Knightley, please and thank you.

I couldn’t really care less who we pick at 2, as I’m content with the options floated, I’d also be fine if we split.

The main point I was making is people that will melt over CDT are ridiculous and when he’s slotting goals from 55 metres on the run and we look like the Harlem Globetrotters out of the middle in a few years time, I’ll be there.

I once again advise you all to focus on all the things he does exceptionally well already instead of the one question mark on him.

His tape is brilliant, I hated the idea of him until I watched every game he played and all of his isolated actions, he’s genuinely an extra midfielder across the ground, is a damaging high shot volume forward and his tap work is brilliant and will only grow.

An Archer / CDT ruck tandem with these new rules will be the blueprint.

How many disposals did she get per game in CTL? Surely Margot Robbie's stats are better?

How many A grade mids do you believe a competitor needs?

Given Geelong had 2, Collingwood 1, Hawks 1.

Given that the clear answer is 2, what do you think the likelihood that none of Hewett/Duursma/26F1 becoming elite or Warner not coming is?
Good to see someone else bring up this argument, we dont need 5 A grade mids like some here seem to think lol.

Related to this long winded over night discussion, and our draft focuses for this year:

How do people see the improvement of our midfield next year?

Will fellas like Hall, Gross, Allan step in and take big leaps?

How big a role will Dev Rob play? Or any other potential rookie signings? If we added a Tom Blamires or Harry Scott out of the VFL, would people be happy shooting for another McCarthy-like signing?
I expect Dev will be a competent defensive mid or tagger, he will be an asset.
Gross probably does what we wanted him to do this year, a mid rotation but sits at hff when he gets opportunities.
Hall will be a role player when needed, I wouldnt be surprised if Dev keeps Hall out of the side.
Allan id like to move into the middle but who knows, he probably stays in an outside role though.

Harley continuing and improving on his late season form, Hewett with a full pre-season under his belt, McCarthy with a full pre-season as a mid and our midfield will be so much better than 2025.
Our midfield will be fine without Sharp or something added.

Some cheap inside mid like Dev should be sufficient to help Harley, Hewett and McCarthy

Lol. Sharp held his own as a bottom ager in Sid Draper draft class.... if we extrapolate that BOG game as a ****ing underager into him being of age then he would win it.....

Sharp haters are ****ing delusional screaming combine as their only argument. It's obvious CV doesn't matter. Also funny enough Sharp got top 10 agility as a u16. Soo....

Sid draper draft year...

Before you go on about Sharp regressing in his top level year well he won the larke medal so try again.

Pundits(US) and average draft watchers/phantom draft speculators who don't watch players live may have different views about who is the best player in the draft and all the attributes and deficiencies.

What can't be disputed is Sharp has been the best inside mid for 2 years, dominating as a 17yo and again dominating as an 18yo.
Comparisons to Rowell as a resume for his last 2 years are real.
He is the best inside mid in the draft 2025 by some margin.

Is he the best player in the draft? That is subjective.
Is he the highest ceiling? That is subjective.

WC can't come away from the draft without 1 of the best 2 mids in the draft, Sharp & Cumming.
We have pick 1, 2, 13 and other clubs want our picks to get what we got.

Duursma is an outside transition player who could end up in the midfield eventually.

Sharp is the dominant midfielder of the draft, he should be in our best 2-3 options come draft night.

Cumming is the next best midfielder and the prototype inside/outside player who has had a dominant 2 years also, powerful and impactful mid forward who is explosive from contest and can also hurt when forward.
Has shades of Hewett type but probably better performed credentials over a couple of years, he should be in our best 3 come draft night.

Why would we settle for less than 3 players of Duursma/Sharp/Cumming?

ESS want our pick 2 so the can get CDT or Robey, make them cough up what we need to get Duursma/Sharp/Cumming.
Most likely 5 & 6 for 2 & 13 and some more added by ESS as this is only just acceptable.

If we find out what RICH want, which we will know before draft night there maybe benificial swaps for all to get the first 6 picks in some sort of order of preference and have later picks 13 and ESS 21, 27, 30 to make it happen.

People are seeing the massive midfield void and are wanting to put square pegs in round holes to fill it when it comes to our draft selections.

Just take best available.

Just can't agree with "Our midfield will be fine without Sharp or someone added".

Hanging your hopes on Dev, Gross, Hall and Allen is just ludicrous.
Hewitt could be one and it's too early to tell with the others.

We need quality and we need it now.

You've come a long way since last draft. 12 months ago we needed to bookmark Finn O'Sullivan as a star (comparison to McCluggage) but now he's reliant on getting cheapies from half back.

View attachment 2472149

In addition, last year you were advocatong trading our future first for Draper which was always going to be top 4 pick.

View attachment 2472150

This information does not completely contradict your thoughts on Sharp but if you felt he was going to be better than O'Sullivan and Draper not sure why you'd suggest trading our future first and theoretically cost us the opportunity to draft him.
I stand by both FOS and draper will be stars.. a also stand by that next year so will sharp. They're mutually exclusive.
