Anything better than reliable experienced WAFL minutes is a huge bonus for McRae.

Think it’ll do our young mids wonders to not have to be the primary ball winner and creator and distributor all in one, against opposition midfields of senior WAFL players.

A bit of rookie list support for the Beagles mids, Ash Johnson taking the oppo’s best KPD - developing the kids just got a lot easier.

If he is so undeniably good that he breaks into the AFL side, happy days, but I’m perfectly content with using these rookie spots as an upside play WAFL option.

Ash Johnson wouldnt take the 2nd best tall defender. The guy is a absolute potato.

JWilll + Reid/whoever else will take the first 2 talls. Ash Johnson will likely play on a 3rd tall and then suck at that role

Draft watches I've spoken to about this say his inability to mark is being blow out of proportion.

As the year went on, I was told he improved exponentially in contested marking and extending the arms.

Anything is an improvement from rock bottom. Not to mention his weaknesses are listed as ruck craft and physicality. A ruck who refuses to be psychotically physical isnt a ruck, its a big midfielder.

Mate, our leading goal kicker last year was Coen Livingstone with 17.7 in 18 games.

It’s a big tick of a recruit for any WAFL side and a borderline coup for the Beagles given our recruiting history.

There is no way that CDT can't mark as a high profile basketball player
Edit: Actually, according to statistical record, his average marks per game is similar to Josh Kennedy and better than some famous ruckman and key forwards

I think we have room for an X factor SF in our line up.
We dont have 1 and several of the names mentioned probably wont make it.
Pickett looks the best at mid 2nd round.

Dewar will need to improve greatly to be first choice player and excells around the wing.
Hewett will be a mid/HF rotating player long term ad probably the best of all the names mntioned.
Long will be unlikely to make it.
Williams is more a HF with elite speed and working up the ground.
Evans is an X factor mid who probably rotates forward similar to Hewett.
Walley is an unknown but the closest to Ryan if he can put up a better season.
Davis is a true wing who can play that goal kicking HF.
Hutch will play HF as well.
Champion may make it.

None are X factor SF's like Ryan and most likely depth and many not on the list in 2-3 years.
Amongst our NGA's we have a huge opening for that X factor SF and it will be a battle of many over the next couple of years.
Champion, Walley, McGlade are the 3 that look to have the most potential as SF X factor players and they will be tried and progressed until they do or don't make it, but are they any better than Pickett?

Next year we have Garrison Kenh, Tylah Williams younger brother Elijah, McGlade and Robert Farmer as well as a few others that might go alright.

I'm huge on Robertson, the kid can play. Macrae not some much. I think he's too slow. Time will tell.

I don’t see how the WAFL Eagles will possibly be a bottom side barring an absolute injury crisis.

On paper we would now have one of the stronger teams, particularly if we added blamires in the RD.

We've signed a former AFL listed player to our historically bad WAFL team.
Even if he wasn't very good at AFL level how on Earth can that be anything but good news?
Again, even if he only kicks a goal a game at worst, I imagine that would make him 1st or 2nd in our WAFL goal kicking based on this year (without checking the stats).

There has been some mail that WC are keen on Pickett, so while I am not discounting we have plenty of NGA's coming through over the next couple of years, are they better is the question?
I think Champion, Newton have decent talent and hope they become long term players.
Kenh is a very quck HB.
McGlade is probably the most talented SF in that group followed by Farmer.
Elijah Williams is a taller wing type.
So while I think we are going to be decent for X factor SF's in 3 years time there seems to be strong interest in Pickett, so maybe WC rate him higher than some of our current players and upcoming NGA's.
I think while our NGA prospects look very promising they aren't world beaters at this point and I see a massive turnover in our NGA's over the next 3 years to find and develop the best.
Also this part of the ground is weak for us, Long, Owies, Brockman are potentially out at the end of their contracts if we find better imo.

Worst case is hes one of our middle tier players at WAFL level.

Hes mature age, hes got experience at a higher level, we have just delisteed Livingstone so probably need another tall to play WAFL anyway
