You were dead keen on the guy for no reason other than hype as you, like us, had never seen him play before.

All you had to go on was written information on his form in the under 16's.

Don't try and make out that you have been on him all along as your OP tells the true story.

Impressive highlights. Seems to be a great mark for his size. But, surely having two serious knee injuries would deter drafters a bit. The top clubs (Hawks and Cats) may be more willing to take a risk with him.

I bet a lot of people were saying the same about Selwood regarding his injuries. Look at him now.

I'm not saying we should definitely get Swift, but sometimes if you let a player's past injuries make up your mind for you, you miss out on an absolute star who could very well play most of his career injury free.

Based on talent, this kid is easily top 5.

Good point mate. It's really tough one. We really don't need another injury stricken player with the run we had this year but he could easily end up being the best player to come out of the draft. I think if he is available Vossy will pick him with no hesitation. Should we take the risk? I have no idea. If we pick him up I will be as excited as I will be nervous....

Seriously, why does everyone think of Joel Selwood and compare him to Swift. Selwood was able to still show he could cut it at under 18 level. Likewise Judd. Swift has barely played a game in 2 years. Sure he could dominate against 15 and 16 year olds but whos to say he will be able to step up from his form in the under 16s to AFL level. He is far greater risk than Selwood, or Judd were.

Based on talent Beau Muston was rated as the best player in the 05 draft. He is the person you should be comparing Swift to. A player that was a freak but now it is coming up to the 09 season, and he has done nothing.

To me he is last thing EFC need, an injury prone youngster.

risk is huge but the upside is too. i have spoken to a few other youngsters over here that have played with and against him and they rate him higher than rich.

Looked like a pretty smooth mover last night, he will be quite the weapon. The one I was impressed with was Cockie similar build to Myers when he was drafted.

Cockie got a lot of the ball, but didn't know what to do with it. I was really impressed with Swift, looks like they have a player.

Cockie got a lot his possessions under pressure and cleared the ball well out of defense on multiple occasions.

From what i saw, he was missing a lot of targets and IMO was sometimes kicking to the wrong spots or players.
