Great read ! Wish weaknesses were discussed a bit more in these profiles

Just have a feeling one of our picks will be true KP so perhaps B McKay at 13 is a chance

Milera v Francis is not a decision I'd like to get judged on, v difficult to split if they are both there at pick 9
milera,mckay,francis for 9
whoever slips plus burton possibly for 13.

FWIW, you may also find that we are hoping to play Menzel of the HBF.
Hampton, Seedsman, Smith, Jaensch, Laird, VB, Lever, Cheney, Kelly, Wigg and now Menzel all at half back?

We're going to need a bigger boat

How confident are you of those 3 players being reasonable options at #9 ?

Except the bit where we demanded Gore over Cockatoo.....that is utter bullshit......Cockatoo was off the table even before discussions started.

For the record I agree, Dean Gore will play AFL for us next season.....I actually saw a couple of his VFL games this season and took particular notice of him being a SA lad....he can play!

Bicks and Mattymac, I'm sure I read a report where AFC said they wanted Gore over Cocky because they felt he was a true inside mid. Now I could be wrong because I can't remember who wrote it in the media.
Fact remains if they were so keen on Cocky they could have held out for him. They didn't.

I didn't think Nathan bock would make the grade... So just saying it's impossible to predict the potential of all players.

It's not difficult to change your mind & admit you got it badly wrong. ;)

I had a chance to see Bock play live in the SANFL a lot. If you had told me he would win a B&F and an AA spot I would have had you committed. The guy missed more targets than David Gallagher and was softer at the ball.

You imagined it. There was no article that said that

That's the problem with all of us. was the issue with Bock or you?

Not having a go but we can't say Bock never looked like it, perhaps you just couldn't see what was there. Same applies to me.

I know that Murdoch was open to a move home but AFC were more keen on Gore for whatever reason.

Take it from me, you are wrong.

According to Geelong, we asked for ****, they refused, then Gore asked to go home. Which means instead of asking Geelong for Gore, we went straight to him and told him to ask to leave. But we asked for **** and pick 9 first.

Good to see you are finally agreeing with me now you have me on ignore & can't see what I posted! ;)

All this does is show none of us fans really know what went on in the trade discussions. At the end of the day, Voldemort is gone and we have picks and a new player to support.

I'm fairly open to another inside mid being taken.

The main reason, and I don't advertise it for obvious reasons (it's not that important to me) is that I don't think Matt crouch's ceiling is higher than B grade.

Yes he does a lot well now, but I agree with those that think he is closer to his ceiling that you might expect. He finds it, and moves it on ok in close. His disposal is bad, but his decision making isn't so he can usually do something ok with it. But finding it is instinctive, he won't necessarily get better at it. He doesn't have his brothers 360 view of the field, but he is tough.

The problem is that he provides no spread, none. yes his endurance is poor, and than can improve but he doesn't seem to me to be someone who has that sense. Dangerfield never worked hard enough to make space or provide spread either but he was explosive enough he could kick start things from inside. Matt crouch isn't fast or athletic enough to do that.

I still see Matt Crouch as a Sam Mitchell lite, with less vision, spread or disposal. That's still useful but it's not nearly an A grade player.

So if we decide we want a matheson I can support that

Its true. The Crows obviously had way more to go on than just his SANFL form (which was cringe-worthy). I would never have know if he was carrying injuries, had personal distractions or was just taking longer to develop.

I see him as another priddis, and probably about the same ceiling, which I consider to be B+/A- level but not elite. If we go for an inside mid, I would prefer Oliver, as Mathieson seems very similar to Matt as well.

I could imagine them saying they wanted Gore over Gregson given the choice but in the highly unlikely hypothetical that Cockatoo was on the table we would have grabbed the **** every day of the week.

He's also barely seen M.Crouch play live yet is writing off his skills already:rolleyes:.

I've said it before, BOB's skills are not as bad as being inferred here. I saw him live at SANFL level numerous times in 2014 and, like many here, all AO games this year. His kicking, while not a strength or elite by any stretch, isn't that bad. When he kicks within his limitations it's fine and it'll look better at AFL level as he gains more composure and experience. He's kicked very nicely weighted kicks to Tex a couple of times as examples of what he is capable of when composed.

It's often not his skill level that hurts him, I've found his biggest weakness to be more so composure and decision making.

Often rushed kicks this year and handballed out of packs blindly when he could have worked his way through the congestion.

This will all improve over time and experience, which is why for now, I'm confident he has what it takes to become a very good inside midfielder.
