It does not matter one bit whether or not he is going to go on an win the Brownlow. We paid more for him than the market was asking, which means we pissed away a pick. Smart clubs pay the right money and get value for picks they don;t need. If we wanted him, trade pick 13 and grab him in the 2nd round

SO f*cking angry with this. There is absolutely no reason to have done this the way we did it.

Given that he was an unknown quantity we cant know where he wouldve gone between 17 and our next pick, clearly someone at the club wants him badly, or maybe we planned on 4 other players still being available ahead of him, that werent. Theres already a couple of sliders, maybe we expected to get the guys that were picked ahead of them.

Fox footy had him going at #46 in its Phantom yesterday. Their comment about him was one sentence:

"A talented junior basketballer, he's a versatile defender at 187cm with a powerful leap and soft hands."

With Greenwood, Henderson, Jenkins and Doedee we might be making a bid for a second South Australian NBL team!!

A mate of mine got drafted as an unknown and the media had no idea who he was, so they called him a midfielder based on his size. Hed played all of his football in the back half and was recruited as a hbf. Sometimes they have no idea and just make shit up.

As I said everyone, chill out. We don't make a huge call like that without a very good reason. This kid must be a serious talent, because we have taken a huge leap on him.

It is odd given our club needs, it is odd that he could have even been a rookie pick according to some.

But here is a kid who has only played 3 seasons of AFL footy and made it in to the Vic Country team.

I know everyone is wondering why we need him when we have so many similar size players, but we didn't know what the draft choices would be at the time of trade week. I suspect we wanted either H McKay or Weideman, but with both gone we went for the next highest rated on our list.
Still in shock though.

Trade pick 13 for what? We wanted Milera - got him - we only had one other pick.

What does it matter if we used our last pick at 13 or 60?

I'd understand the anger if we had a third pick later on, but we didn't.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Club has royally ****ed up here. If Doedee was such a target, we needed to trade pick 13 for a later pick and a player. There's no way any other club would have taken him in the top 30. Just an absolute ballsup.

In addition to the above, we clearly should have bid on Kennedy at pick 11. This would have cost GWS more than what they ended up paying for him, which would have reduced the chances of them matching the Himmelberg bid.

A disaster. There's still hope that Doedee turns into a great player for us, but he clearly doesn't address anything resembling a need, and he clearly would have been available 15-20 picks later. Fail.

Don't need another KPD, or at least it's not a particularly high priority.

Presumably didn't rate him overly highly, which seems a common thread given that he hasn't gone at all in the first round.
