Who was that Tasmanian that we were apparently into? Willis or something?

9-Weiderman/McKay
13-Tucker/Oliver
I like the sound of Tucker especially after Bicks said he has a bit of mongrel in him,I think the weed might get picked before 9 by Carlton or Melbourne though...

Seriously why would he telegraph to other clubs who our targets are in the draft other than in a general sense.....wouldn't be putting to much faith in that, having said that I'd love to get Francis but just can't see it happening, Milera I'm not sold on especially if we trade in Menzel.
I'm not sold on Milera either and don't think he suits our needs right now. I'd love a midfielder at #9 and at # wouldn't mind Collins. They would sure up our backline so well.

I'm beginning to change my mind as well on who we should take.
Our forward line is taking shape nicely, Menzel,Jenkins Betts,Lynch,Walker and Cameron looks potent
Our midfield definitely needs some upgrading as you can't lose your best clearance player without taking a hit.
I'm sure our first pick goes to improve that.

Until Paddy left our back line has been our area of greatest need and IMO it is still in need of some work.
Can't see Lever being that KPP player, just not quite big enough in physique ;wiry body type.(Don't care how much gym he does.)
Lever is so creative when he has the ball and chances his arm that I'm sure he'll be that third defender who has some license to back his judgement and leave his man. Don't need him or want him to be a lock down dour defender.

We now have Lever, Hampton,Smith, Janesch, Chaney,Wigg, VB ,even Seedman who can rotate through that back line at times. We have options in that position.
I still feel we are in need of a big bodied defender to take on those big forwards like Dixon, Tippett, Hawkins.

Collins is starting to appeal to me because teams with big bodies forwards or numerous talls have caused us trouble.
Yes we have Talia and Hartigan but to have another big presence there who can compete equally in terms of height and stature. with those opponents would be very handy. If one of them goes down we have very little backup.
Collins is a big man now at 18 years, 193cm and 94kg he will only get stronger and more assured as he matures.
I'm leaning towards him with pick 13.

Lever will never be big enough because he's too wiry? Did you see Talia in 2010?!

ADL id go milera at 9 burton at 13

Probably depends on who GWS, Carlton & Richmond will be taking with pick 10, 11 & 12 - and I'm sure we'll have a fair idea of that by draft time, but for me having just signed Seedsman, Hampton & Menzel during trade week I think we've addressed that need for speed and quality disposal that Milera provides, so that sort of player would be a secondary priority for me and I wouldn't want us to use our first pick on him.

As I said before, it sounds as though we'll see an SA boy taken with at least 1 of those picks, and given his attributes (and our positional needs) my guess would be Burton* - 12 months ago he was declared top 5 on talent, misses his draft year and slides down the order due to injury, sound familiar? We've shown in the past that we're not afraid to pull the trigger on those types where other clubs might let them slide. Interesting fact, he weighed 79kg this time last year - he is now up to 90kg. Good to see, I don't think his skills are in question but if he's to develop into a genuine key position prospect as opposed to a floating 3rd tall type then that ability to put muscle on will be important.

*assuming he is given a clean bill of health from that leg break

WA originally, he's been boarding/schooling at St. Patrick's under the St. Pats/AFL backed Indigenous Program whereby the lads are mentored in life skills as well as playing footy for the school, Jake Neade and Dom Barry two of the recent players to go through, an earlier notable player was Adam Goodes.

A very insightful and heart warming story earlier in the year by Emma Quayle about Yestin's journey to the AFL is a good read......and the lad can play believe me!

I wonder if he's the young fella interviewed on RN this afternoon regarding a group of indigenous kids going to play an exhibition game in China soon?

There's always a chance Francis slips. Last year at this point Lever was top 5 predicted by some. There's always a few bolters who come from the clouds in the weeks leading to the draft.

Francis at 9 would be incredible. Just can't see some of the clubs with two picks ignoring him twice.

Then again the injury/off field issues previously mentioned on here might put a few off.

Any allegations are complete lies made up in the pathetic hope he drops to pick 9.

Agree. Particularly the rumour involving the sheep, a midget and a six pack of west coast coolers. If I had one of the top 8 picks, I wouldn't touch him.

Going by Noble's presser, we are definitely looking for talls. I still think we will pick a tall and a midfielder.

Harry McKay would kill 2 birds with one stone as he can play as a KPF and ruck. Having said that, the clubs with multiple picks early will likeybe picking talls and smalls.

Is Sam Weideman, probable 2015 AFL draftee, related to Wayne Weidemann? Yes, I realise they're spelt differently, but you never know.
No, Sam's the grandson of Collingwood Hall Of Famer and "hard" man Murray Weideman and son of Mark who played for both the SA Blood and Tars and Collingwood, Murray also Captain Coached the Blood and Tars in the SANFL for 2 or 3 years and resides in SA.

i still dont think we have enough speed. Milera rotating with Cameron and Betts would be great to watch and Burton i think would be there at 13.

Highly doubt Francis would slip to 9, but you never know still a few weeks to go.

Pace was not an issue once we had knight and Atkins playing instead of mackay and wright. Not because Atkins in particular is quick (he's slow), but because they are both elite ball users. Our issue has been as much kicking accuracy as it is pace. Poor kicking has the effect of making you look slow.

We've lost danger but brought in Seedsman and Hampton who are both quick, and Menzel who has a bit of toe too. Better still, they have excellent kicking skills. Something the bloke on the way out didn't have.

Smith, Cameron, Hampton, Seedsman, knight, Menzel all in the 22 and all very quick. Hendo to fill 22nd spot if you're still worried.

I am not against drafting another guy with pace, but this is not the level of deficiency that has previously crippled us.

If we look at another ruck to develop on the rookie list, I wonder if we'll take another gander at Mark Kovacevic? He was teammates with Reilly O'Brien at the Calder Cannons and we were apparentely down to the pair of them to take with 1 pick. He ended up playing a pair of VFL games this year, but certainly seems to have some potential.

Those likely followers of Cecil-killing American dentists, given their brainless cheering of their loser poacher team, have just started their draft watch thread. Talk about a pointless gabfest. Guess the surf coast does lend itself to tilting at windmills.
