List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

Talia, Hartigan and Lever are a lot better than anything that West Coast had through most of this year and they nearly won it. In fact those 3, considering that they are all still improving would give us the best group of tall defenders in the league in my opinion. They are certainly better than Lake and Frawley. We can win with them but we simply can't win with Matt Crouch, Lyons, Dougy this year or Thompson. Sloan is a good B+ mid and Smith proved this year that he isn't a mid.<snip>

Sloane is ranked 5th on the Overall Player Ratings and you are giving him a B+ ?? Sloane is Elite.

Is Milera genuine mid material? Its just that we don't exactly have any immediate vacancies/needs up forward at the moment. Obviously his pace would come in handy as its something we certainly lack and is a trait that's hard to come by.
Seems like the sort of player that would get homesick easily, maybe pick him up a few years later for a steal? ;)
Surely we would be going for a tall defender with at least one of our first two picks, or do they envisage a future for Hartigan?
still need to be convinced with Hartigan, definitely improved but needed to.

I don't think we can win a flag with just Talia and Hartigan as KPDs. I'm not convinced about Hartigan against top line forwards; yes he's inexperienced but that's half my point. Plus if one of them goes down, and over the course of a season that's far more likely than not, we're stuck using undersized defenders in a KP role.

If we don't draft Collins (who at 193cm doesn't really solve our undersized defence problem) we'll probably need to rookie the best mature age KPD left. Expect Hartley and Brown to go in the main draft.

Before Sam Skinner 197cm, 96Kegs did his ACL earlier this year he was rated the equal of or better than Keiran Collins, do we do a "Jake Lever" if Collins is gone before our pick.....that's on the proviso we are after a KPD??

Harry McKay's twin brother Ben 200cm, 91 Kegs has been playing in defence and developing nicely, bigger bodied than his brother at this stage and being born Dec 1997 both he and Harry are amongst the younger players in this years draft.....Ben should definitely be there at our pick I would think??

Sam Skinner's a Moe kid so shouldn't be any go home factor there, don't think too many would be in a hurry to get back there...LOL ;)

I don't know where to start with this.

Talia's elite and Lever could be anything but that's a bit rich at this stage. Lake's been a champion for a decade and Frawley, after dominating Tex, Pavlich and Kennedy in 3 consecutive knock out finals, deserves to be in the conservation with Talia and Rance as the best going around.

Rory Sloane is A Grade every second of the day. Thompson was great last season and has the fitness to back it up. Dougy does and keeps doing. Love him.

And Brodie Smith will be a star in the midfield this year. We didn't trade for midfielders to replace Danger because we already have his replacement. We traded for HB flankers to replace Smith.

I agree with most of this, rather than Hodgy, but I agree with his sentiment about Smith. Many of you have been calling for him to go into the midfield, but he certainly played a lot better when he was at half back. He is all-Australian HB standard, but this doesn't necessarily transfer into the midfield. It's rather curious, since he doesn't actually defend well one-on-one, but his other attributes still make him an AA-standard HB.

Don't mess with what works!

Watch Adelaide vs Collingwood in Rd 2 or 3 2015.
Smith killed them from the wing, absolutely killed them, was BOG before getting concussed in the final quarter. He still got 3 votes whilst missing the majority of the last quarter. They'll play Smith in the middle this year, his skills forward of center are game breaking, Seedsman or Hampton will make up for Smith. Then there's Jaensch waiting to return. We need more class in the middle, Smith + B Crouch in the midfield > Dangerfield. We'll be way more dynamic with Smith in there.

Just hoping Smith and Seedsman rip Collingwood a new one with their dash and kicking. Would be sweet.

I really like Skinner. If we didn't waste 32 on Seedsman, we probably could have got him. I personally wouldn't be unhappy at 13 but think it's highly unlikely.

Wouldn't be adverse to taking Cameron Giles as a rookie. Wouldn't be the first list management mistake Carlton have made recently.

But how much are they ? [emoji12]

OK, point taken. I guess I still think in terms of old-time position nomenclature. I think Smith is a flanker, and I'm very happy with him on HB flank or wing, running through the centre to take the handballs from the 50m set-shot men, for example. However, I wouldn't class him as a get down and dirty Brad-Crouch type midfielder, following the rucks around, grovelling for his own ball, and getting more concussions.
