List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

I'm hoping for this:

1 Carlton - Weitering (KPD)
2 Brisbane - Schache (KPF)
3 Melbourne - Parish (MID)
4 Essendon - Weideman (KPF)
5 Essendon - Mathieson (MID)
6 Gold Coast - Milera (Outside Run)
7 Melbourne - Curnow (KPF)
8 Carlton - H McKay (KPF)
9 Adelaide - Francis (UTIL)
10 GWS - Used to pay for academy players
11 Carlton - Balic (F/MID)
12 Richmond - Ah Chee (F)
13 Adelaide - Tucker/Collins/Bonner/Burton/B McKay

The thinking being that Melbourne desperately wanted 3 - suggests Parish, with a KPF picked second to go with Hogan. Essendon will take a tall and a mid I reckon. I'm hoping that Francis being a third tall defender utility type means they go with Mathieson. Hoping Gold Coast select Milera (they said they traded down to 6 because the player they wanted would still be there - would suggest that Francis isn't on their radar). Carlton are meant to be right into the McKay twins so I think it makes sense to get their bookends now in Weitering and McKay.

I also think the talls are worth slightly more this year as next years draft is meant to have more mids. Hoping this means Francis falls.

Having said all of this I still think Essendon will pick him :(

5 players at 13. I'm all for it [emoji12]

I'm not so sure about this. At the time, St Kilda still had pick 5 and they were said to be into Milera.

GC are pretty covered for this type of player with Martin, Harbrow and Gartlett. In fact, their midfield is so loaded with talent I doubt they'll pick another one here. Might be Curnow or Ah Chee or maybe someone left field. Hibberd has been mentioned but it'd be a shock that high.

I think bonner as much as he is a great kick is not going to be at west lakes next year mate. Before our trade period i wouldve said hes a good chance. But having gained seedsman and hampton. Plus having jaensch and wigg he is almost excess to our needs atm.( I saw a comment on this thread the other day though that stated you dont select on needs just select the best player.) Agree with the hawthorn thing though. Another great left footed field kick for them.
Agree , he will be a hawk

I remember you said we were interested in McKay a while back, mate. Any more updates on who else we're interested in?
Just rumours that you hear ......cal twomey saying Francis is a chance is interesting

Reckon if we could get him at 9 and McKay at 13 we would be v happy

Got a feeling we like hibberd and tucker as well

If we got Francis at 9 I wouldn't begrudge the boys forfeiting pick 13 and going for a few pints in celebration

Absolutely makes sense for us. Addresses a number of needs for us.

Obviously as a mobile, marking key forward
Adds to the ruck depth as well
Is a left footer and athletic, not a lumbering type
Is still only 17 and eligible for this draft by a few days...a genuine bottom ager.

I suspect if there are no sliders from the top bunch and Carlton don't pick him at 8, I would absolutely expect us to pick McKay at 9. Just makes sense for us in terms of needs.

If we get a combination of two of any of those four, I'll be extremely happy.

Not sure, haven't seen him play but he'll be in the under 18s next season, apparently has some pretty good damn skills as well.
He is flying and will be a star.. Check out his champion data stats from last year in U18 and ressies very impressive and knows where the goals are. A close friend of mine is South Adelaide U18 coach and he cannot speak highly enough of him..

Brodie Smith I was so excited about this year, moving into the midfield, but he just looked lost when they tried it and he really only started looking anywhere near his old self when they moved him back.

I remember people saying the same thing about Goodwin.

p.s. you did say you wouldn't trade Hartigan for James Frawley. You did say that, didn't you?

Pass, take Burton before another tall..

WE have a problem ......starting to think alike

Love Mackay ....tall left footed quick & good hands ......3 years development is great list timing

Prefer at #13 .....but it depends on if the club feels he may not be available at #13 ...i would be ok at #9 .....trust the clubs judgement

There's about 6 players that i feel we would all be comfortable with ......it'll be how the club bench marks them :thumbsu:

High on the club list doesn't mean #9 necessarily .......he's the tall KPF we need !

Curnow / Oliver / Burton / Milera will be on that list as well .......Bonner and that left footed HB guy won't

Again the wrong type of player for this discussion.

ROB is a Ruckman who might be able to push forward in time. He is not a forward that can ruck. That is the difference here! Teams have been playing 1 genuine ruckman and a forward/defender who can do relief ruckwork for 15-20% of the game. This trend will continue, if not increased with capped rotations. The days of playing two genuine ruckman are over. ROB will get his chances but it won't be as a Jenkins replacement because he is not a natural forward and will never be a 40-50 goals a year player. Jenkins is that. Teams would rather lose the taps for that 15-20% of game time and play to losing ruckman than go without a genuine forward for 80-85% of the game.

ROB has never played as a key forward in his life, nor has he ever shown any signs of being able to do so on a full time basis. He is a great ruck prospect the same was Jacobs was at Carlton, but a KPF/ruckman he is not and never will be.

If those players are that easy to find and develop, every team would have a good to great one. They are not. That's why players like Tippett are on $1 million a season.

Stiffy I thought he played as a key defender for a lot of his last junior year. Is it possible he makes it as a KPD and the occassional relief ruckman if needed?

Harry McKay
200cm/85kg
24/12/97
Key forward
Vic Country/Gippsland Power
Made people take notice with a four-goal haul early in the TAC Cup season and has continued to generate interest in club ranks. A left-footer with pace, McKay also has the athleticism to push onto a wing where he can use his natural running ability. He keeps showing exciting snippets – a good mark on the lead, a twist and turn to find space, or a goal that looks unlikely.

Collingwood game begs to differ. He was outstanding in the midfield that game and the two games before that he didn't look out of place either playing through the midfield.

He only started to look like his old self once he got over his concussions.

Why the confusion? He must have some Crows connection if he knows we're keen on McKay?
Only because Carlton have an interest and Carlton would know which other clubs are showing the strongest interest .....but it's only from a Carlton POV
