Still don't see why we need to promote Kelly from rookie to main list .
Apart from a strong aggressive attack on ball player has not AFL skills, pace or height to warrant promotion especially after getting Seedsman , Hampton and Gore adding to that type of small defence player and even picked Wigg fairly high as another alternative .
I be much happier promoting ROB or having another pick in draft where might pick up a tall defender to strengthen that area.

Ok, so I just watched Francis' draft video again. Seriously get it done, he looks and carries himself like a veteran.

That is no dickheads, we can have one*

*Jaensch is a pisshead, there is a clear difference

No, I think he is a dickhead regardless of inebriation. So, they can delist Jaensch if they want Gorringe.

If its a real rule they should also look into the allegations made earlier in this thread about Burton's excessive self-regard.

Is it really difficult to understand that the days of traditional back up ruckman are gone.

Sure they disappeared with the 3 man interchange and a sub rule BUT there was an insane amount od rotations that teams could have. That got eventually capped, then it got more capped.

So now we get 5 man interchange back but the rotation caps at an all time low. The end result is that players must either be able to play majority of the game and/or they need to be able to play multiple positions. Unless ROB all of a sudden can play magically play most of his game time as a key forward, he is not going to be spending 80% of the game on the bench and 20% on the ground.

removing the sub rule does NOT bring back the second ruckman in the game because the number of rotations have decreased significantly. Teams will not be playing 2 full time ruckman. The back up must be able to play as a key forward. The game has changed and it will continue to change.
Again we are talking about a first year player.. Look at his stats for last year he is a contested beast I am sure he is well aware of the areas he needs to improve which are goals and disposal efficiency. Ruckman generally take 3 to 4 years before they start to make an impact O'Brien made an impact in his first and pushed for selection.

Anyone mentioned Cameron Giles as a possible rookie option?

Injured Navicular which obviously isn't good, and has played little in 2 years, but returned to the VFL late in the year.

Key defender at 195/93, SA boy, former pick 39 (2013) and...

Has a great YouTube video ;)

Thought he would be great but didn't realise it was a navicular. Can be career ending, probably give him an SANFL season to see if he can get back.

We all have one somewhere.

Can someone get me tickets ?

I'll add your name to the list.

I suspect we will go for pure rookies in the rookie draft (no experienced SANFL player for instance).

Having only 2 picks in the draft, we will look to bring some new young talent on the list that might have slipped out of the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us grab someone like Matt Allen from Glenelg if he isn't taken in the main draft. He is a real risk reward kid. Massive body that played CHF all through his development and can mark and kick goals. Also a high level running machine, that could at 192 cm 95 kg, & with a good left boot, possibly transform in to a big body mid that pushes forward.

I know the Crows were very keen on him some time ago.

Assuming that injury has properly healed, he would be worth looking at as a rookie. Was highly rated as a junior.

With the large amount of academy players being rated so highly (top 20) in this year's draft, what are the chances that we will be calling an academy player's name with one of our first two picks?

Now that there is live bidding available and the strong possibility that at either pick 9 or pick 13 the best available player to select will be an academy player, it occurred to me that we might be calling one of these academy player's names. That will mean the team associated with the academy will need to either put their draft picks/points up to get their academy player or lose him to us. It seems to me to be a very likely scenario and then there's the possibility we might even call a second academy player's name after losing the first one. This is how it might go down for us at the draft before we actually call a player's name that we can keep.

This might not be the best move, either, because calling other player's names before the eventual player might give an indication that we didn't rate the eventual player we draft that highly, but I'm fairly certain that won't be a big enough factor to stop them from doing as such.

I don't know where to start with this.

Talia's elite and Lever could be anything but that's a bit rich at this stage. Lake's been a champion for a decade and Frawley, after dominating Tex, Pavlich and Kennedy in 3 consecutive knock out finals, deserves to be in the conservation with Talia and Rance as the best going around.

Rory Sloane is A Grade every second of the day. Thompson was great last season and has the fitness to back it up. Dougy does and keeps doing. Love him.

And Brodie Smith will be a star in the midfield this year. We didn't trade for midfielders to replace Danger because we already have his replacement. We traded for HB flankers to replace Smith.
Everything is just opinion obviously but as far as Key backs I would not trade anyone of Talia, Lever or Hartigan for Lake or Frawley. Hey they both had great games in the grand final but that was surely largely to do with how West Coasts midfield was slaughtered and most times I watch Frawley I think vanilla. I don't understand the negativity about Hartigan at all. He is big, fast, fairly agile and is rapidly improving in how he contests and reads the play. Considering how little he has played at the top level I think he is a fantastic player for us going forward. It feels like it is just a group mentality thing when people put him down. I'm pretty sure that if we put him up for trade we would get lots of buyers.
As for Thommo and Sloane, I love them both but I think there are some things people overlook because they give so much and are the heart and soul of the team. Thommo simply burns the ball too much to ever be considered elite. He is old school and will win every contest but the game against Hawthorn clearly showed it, he just can't hit targets and he lack of pace hurts us hugely when there is a turnover. Sloane is every coaches dream, there is no doubt about it, but for me to be genuine A grade you need to regularly be the guy who is the difference between your team winning and losing and I don't feel that he does that, he just simply doesn't have the weapons. Brodie Smith I was so excited about this year, moving into the midfield, but he just looked lost when they tried it and he really only started looking anywhere near his old self when they moved him back. I know the concussions didn't help but unfortunately I just don't think he will be a midfielder (hope I'm wrong). And finally Dougy. Well he's been my favourite player since I saw him playing for the bays 10 years ago but his year this year was pretty poor I think everyone would have to admit that. He had no effect in those finals and most times he went missing for large parts of the game and I honestly don't think we should expect huge things from him next year.
I'm not having a go at our players by the way but I just honestly feel that if we want to compete with Hawthorn next year we need to have a better midfield, not better talls.

Again the wrong type of player for this discussion.

ROB is a Ruckman who might be able to push forward in time. He is not a forward that can ruck. That is the difference here! Teams have been playing 1 genuine ruckman and a forward/defender who can do relief ruckwork for 15-20% of the game. This trend will continue, if not increased with capped rotations. The days of playing two genuine ruckman are over. ROB will get his chances but it won't be as a Jenkins replacement because he is not a natural forward and will never be a 40-50 goals a year player. Jenkins is that. Teams would rather lose the taps for that 15-20% of game time and play to losing ruckman than go without a genuine forward for 80-85% of the game.

ROB has never played as a key forward in his life, nor has he ever shown any signs of being able to do so on a full time basis. He is a great ruck prospect the same was Jacobs was at Carlton, but a KPF/ruckman he is not and never will be.

If those players are that easy to find and develop, every team would have a good to great one. They are not. That's why players like Tippett are on $1 million a season.

I mentioned him the day he was delisted. I really don't like the idea of picking up a player delisted by another club but I think he could be worth the risk. He can play forward aswell as back and like you said is truely untried.

Could be playing country football next year is not picked up.
