Why firstly is Francis sliding ......and why would we take Milera over Francis

What is the concern with Francis ......must have interviewed really poorly ......just struggling with what iam hearing in the press?

Who was being referred to as "big go home factor" ......Francis?

He's a big bombers fan IIRC so its unlikely, maybe Burton. Query for mine with Francis is where does he play in the big time ?? Not big enough for a KPP and clubs may loathe using a very high pick on a 3rd, admittedly who could become a midfielder.

It's the Goddard dilemma all over again ......BTW my take is Twomey is giving all clubs in the top 10 the thought Francis could go to them .....fact is he just doesn't know this far out

If he turned out as good as Adolf I'd be pretty happy to grab him at 9.

Cal Twomey spoke about it in the draft podcast there was some speculation he was a potential flight risk, but also mentioned some recruiters have said this isn't the case.

Sam's big enough but the query on him was how long it might take him to develop, plus niggly injuries.

Not sure sorry. I only posted what has been tweeted back to me.

Too many of the experts believe Francis will slide to our pick, don't know why though.
Not sure where it's actually quoted that Francis is a bombers fan either.

I saw those tweets and didn't realise they were from you. Interesting that Brett Anderson says Francis may slide to pick 9 and then we pass and take Milera instead. Does that mean we think Francis could slide to pick 13? We would surely be happy with that.

The issue with Francis is what Is he?
He isnt a kpd, kpf or midf.
He is a Goddard, most clubs don't want this type of player.
Imo he would be a brilliant key forward who could go back and in the midfield part time.

Having said all this I'm a huge milera fan and think he is exactly what we need. But from the experts Oliver and Mackay are also in the mix at 9.

I'm more convinced than ever we will get top quality whoever we choose.

I don't get the Goddard comparisons being a bad thing. Goddard has been a very good player capable of playing a number of positions.

but if Ess/Melb/Carlton specifically want a genuine KPF or Midf, they arent likely to use their top 10 picks on Francis who is neither of these.
I get why he may slip, id still take him at 9 depending on whether Milera is there.

We recruited our CHB last draft ......how many goes do you want? ......club HAS NEVER in two drafts, drafted for the same KP role ...and certainly not in defense

Relax WW its Definitely not plan A or B but if we end up with a utility type at 9 I'd rather a reliable KP player at 13 than a speculative second utility or Mathieson type mid

I'm happy with Seedsman and Menzel. But a part of me wishes we had picks 28 and 32 going into the draft.

It would be interesting to see what players we would have been discussing around that mark.

It would make it fun and interesting, but it is highly unlikely they'd be as good as Menzel & Seedsman.

I see him playing across half back as an intercept marking, elite distributor. He moves pretty well, makes great decisions, takes intercept marks and has an elite leg.

He could play anywhere but that's where I'd play him. He could also push forward (if a tall forward for injured) and play as a leading forward.

He could also have short bursts in the centre square.

this may be the reason why Francis is considered a flight risk, terrible situation and amazing strength

His name is Lever .....why do people not understand he wasn't drafted as a third tall??????

Give the guy another season in the gym ......but pound for pound he's much stronger than Hartigan ....a few players with sore heads can attest to how hard & competitive he is

you could say the same about Fyfe, Bontempelli and Patrick Cripps who are the same height as Francis, Bontempelli is taller, he is the height clubs want.
