13-burton/balic/tucker

I'd prefer Ryan Clarke to Balic personally, kicking slightly iffy but at least it's penetrative.

9 Francis or Milera (suspect only one will be left). Would be ecstatic with either.
13 is easy - Tucker.

pick 13: Balic, Burton, Tucker

*No mention of Oliver and AhChee to us.

Francis and Tucker would be the safest and probably the most 'Round 1 capable' pairing. McKay and Burton the biggest risk with biggest reward potential.

Things change though. Remember last year petracca was forecast as the number 1 pick up until a couple of nights before the draft. St kilda went with mccartin instead. Could carlton go for schache instead? Collins will most likely be there at 8 or 11 maybe thats what theyl bank on. Could melbourne also spring a surprise and not select parish at 3 instead opting for curnow who they are also keen on.

Unlikely but maybe it turns out like this instead.

Skippos doesn't seem a wrap for him. Anyone have a different opinion?

I can see the both sides to this KPD/Midfielder at 13 debate.

Collins does look very good but I think it's a fair call to say we shouldn't get him given our young talent in that area with Lever / Talia, very similar player to Talia IMO in being a lock down key back - I rate him and think he'll be a player but just probably not worth it that early given we don't have an express need for a first 22 lock down defender given we already have one.

Key defenders can come out of nowhere (see Ben Rutten from rookie draft). I'd be happy with a Tom Keough (or player like him, haven't researched it just heard his name) picked up with our first rookie selection to fill that perceived need for a big boy back up some feel.

Francis/Milera and Tucker/Balic I can see at 9/13. Recruitment team will know far more than me / any of us - Balic may seem a touch slow but we've recruited speed in the trade period, to be honest we could do with some class. Don't get too 'dangerfield replacement' focussed, just won't happen. I'd prefer class/talent at this stage rather than bullish speed/strength/inside ball winning as our recruitment focus.

He'd be about 10th on my preferences, I think it's more about projection as he is reportedly a "late" convert to football after concentrating on basket ball, at this stage to my eye his biggest knock is his kicking, really looks to lack penetration.

Long term has a lot of upside as coming from basketball background and has a few things to work .on still

Needs to take the game on with his kicking , is a bit indirect and doesn't pull the trigger . I think his contested ball stuff is actually ok and will only get better in the environment ( has been a knock )

Not quick , but has a lot of time and composure in traffic ( pendlebury?)

A good size ans versatility good

Prefer Oliver personally

Tucker is the more mature player and Bonner has potential

Looks like we are linked to everyone ....this is good means we have done a lot of prep for different scenarios

All grain of salt other than milera McKay and Francis as likely our top 3

If we had of known we would have chance to snare a tucker or ah chee at start of year we would have been pleasantly surprised

Not sure that's the best way of looking at it mate!
To call right now that Collins WILL be worth a top 10 pick in 3 years time whereas any potential midfielder we get will suck eggs in the SANFL? I don't rate that.
And why would you ever pick someone up with the thought you will sell him later the moment he plays well? that's playstation level list management.

Collins may get towelled up at afl level, get exposed for his lack of speed on the ground and not work in combination with Talia, then slowly drop off into obscurity and we get nothing from it. That said, I do rate him as a player - just presenting a point of view.
