I recognize your concerns of teh advantage... but like I said, clubs have taken advantage of the Lions for years and got 1st round talent on the cheap. Lions are coming from a long way back before such advantage works for us.

One thing people don't realize is that in the era of talent dilution across the league per-academies we should see more Footy State talent stay in those states... Im sure you footy state clubs will survive.

It's not really Brisbane that concerns me, it's the fact that Sydney and GWS seem to be producing anywhere between 1-4 prospects each year and getting a free hit at them. Sydney have had two top 5 prospects in Heeney and Mills despite finishing top 4 the last two years. GWS have had years of concessions and are now producing multiple highly rated prospects. These are teams that are not in need of extra assistance, particularly Sydney, who have had two flags in the past decade.

Consider also the lingering effects of those concessions where highly rated draft players get traded out for early round draft picks (eg. Treloar) - those lingering effects will take some while yet to peter out.

As someone who played 250+ games as a FUB I feel I'm qualified to say your opinion is not only laughable, but a load of uneducated crap. If you truly believe your own words that is.

If you think Rance is in the same class as Scarlett and SOS as FUB's you've got no idea about the position nor the game of football.

Laverdes a midfielder, Curnow will be a forward, i personally cant see him being a midfielder at all he just doesn't have those traits.

Laverde i had no idea. He didnt really slide. He was just over pumped on BF. Quayle had him going at 17 to the bombers before the draft.

My opinion is that Curnow is a more modern day midfeilder. Like his long running family he has a huge tank already. Just needs to improve on his disposal a little and his game awareness somewhat more and he's this year's draft Watson. The Essendon kind not the blues sort

Hard to believe that a footy fan can actually think the above is even remotely close to the truth.

The judge of the matter will be 10, 15, 25 years from now.

Footy fans will still know who SOS & Scarlett were, but Rance wont even begin to piqué discussion about champion defenders of the past few decades.

After watching SOS play most of his career via tv and Scarlett mostly live, my opinion is Rance's performances in the last 2 years have been the equal of what those other guys produced. The only difference being that SOS and Scarlett played at that level for 10+ years, so if Rance was able to continue his current form until 2023 he will be able to be compared to these 2 great champions of our game.
