I just want to raise a question with you all.

If we draft Matthew Deledio this year as a late draft pick or rookie pick, would this go a very long way to ensureing that Brett stays a tiger for life?

I have seen only a little bit of Matthew play and i believe there is a fair bit to work with but on the Main side of drafting him i believe it could be a very smart move to ensure Brett Deledio continues to play football and the Richmond Football Club.

Please dont take this the wrong way and think that i only want him at the Tigers next year to keep Brett i do also like the way he plays the game. He is a very smart Footballer in my eyes.

I see no problem in having a speculatory crack at him given it's a very shallow draft IF he genuinely has the tools to make it. Dunno bout the whole 'using him to keep Brett here' angle though, what if Matt DOESN'T make it, wouldn't that embitter Brett seeing his brother delisted?

Asides from the Clokes (& even then it was a dumb move) I'm struggling to think of anyone who decided to move to another club because his brother was playing there or who decided to leave because his brother wasn't playing for his club.

Jade Rawlings moved to the Roos to play with Brady, Josh carr asked to be traded to freo to play with brother matt.

Thats just two off the top of my head.

Like i said i do believe Matthew can play football which is why i would like to see him at Richmond, i am mearly asking the question that if Matthew was at our club do people think that Brett would rather stay at the Tigers because of him than request a trade if we were still hanging around the bottom when his contract runs out.

Having Matthew at the club certainly wouldn't harm our chances of Brett wanting to stay at Richmond. ;)

Brett Voss did the opposite to get away from Michael:)

But is he any good? ffs... this is a Footy Club being run not a family reunion.

He's smaller than Brett at about 184cm and is also quite stocky. I've heard he's a very good overhead mark, although lacks the pace of his brother (who doesn't though?).

Mick and Benny Gayle

Mick(Fabio) from Fitzroy

Joeline and Patricia Bowden

Problem is that when we cut Matt Deledio in 2 years time because he is not up to the grade - we upset Brett and possbily give him a reason to walk out where there hadn't been one previously.

If Brett wants to play with his brother he is going to have to quit the leage and go back to Kyabram. That makes it a lot different to the Rocca, Gale, Bowden type examples.

Matt is more from the Paul Broderick school. Shorter, stocky, walking pace. Almost exclusively handballs and rarely runs much more than laps of the centre square. The one edge he has over some others is when he rests in the forward pocket he can take a good mark on the lead. He is not quick, so the defenders are always all over him - that means a lot of contested marks on the lead. Often he is on the short backpocket (eg 174cm) and once in front will get the grab. Very sticky and safe hands for a guy who is about 181cm. Good kick for goal too. Isn't going to rove many though.

He won't come into calculations for rookie selection. He might play a year in the Coburg reserves next year, but that would be the limit of where he is at I think.

Worrying about Brett leaving is a bit of panic. 9 players got traded last year and most of those (Tarrant, Akermanis, Medhurst) were shown the door by their clubs who wanted rid of them. Guys don't get traded in this league anymore. The mechanics are too hard.

He'd be delisted after 2-3 years anyway, no doubt about it.

A good average country footballer mould.

We dont need to do this.

EDIT: Damn. Beaten by Weaver and all my points are in his and more elaborated. :( DAMN YOU! :D

But Free agency is looming large.........

I have seen M Deledio play. I would be very surprsied if he made it in the AFL.
Rockliff who is from the same size is similiar size to M Deledio and he runs rings around him. I dont think Rockliff is eligible for this years draft. Can someone confirm this?
Rockliff has only played the second half of the year for the Bushies because of injury and its no surprise they have dominated upon his return.
He has kicked bags and constantly in the best, looks like a Russell Roberston type.
Steele Sidebottom is the won to watch in a couple of years, FREAK!

This year is even tighter with not much talk about any big players being disenchanted and wanting "a fresh change". Looks like the no1 pick in this years PSD is gonna be a real fizzer for us. A waste of time.

Surely we can go one better than Cain Ackland though. :o

Don't worry about lids leaving the club. It used to worry me with his Dad playing for Carlton but look at Cooney at the Bulldogs, its all good. Carlton should be worried about Murphy , Gibbs and this years No 1 pick jumping ship in future years. If I had a son that got drafted to the Carlton Football club in the next five years my shoulders would drop 5 metres the minute they called out his name. They are a rabble (respect to ratten though). I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Southport Blues by 2015. There would be alot of realistic Blues supporters out there that would feel sick about what's been happening at that club lately. And if their Pres wasn't so cashed up the tins and bumper stickers would be out already. It would be sad to see over 100 years of history go down the drain but it does happen (Fitzroy) and the AFL would love to see Victoria a little less congested.
