Now let it be known that this is purely speculation and has absolutely 0% truth to it. But Seeing as how the AFL loves to fixture the draws to maximize profit. We can see that during the last 2 months we have upset a few teams, which inevitably means that the AFL will cash on on this and cause us to play them twice.

However, the teams we have upset are not exactly going to be pushing for the top for next year so it looks like this will work in our favour.

Assuming it is a regular 22 round season next year we will be playing 5 teams twice. So according to my reasoning on the 'maximizing profit' scale the AFl will put, we will see us playing the following 5 teams twice.

West Coast : 100% will play them twice, in the bank

St Kilda: Have heard rumours of a round 1 match in Melbourne. Caused because of the Lyon/Sirengate/Whispers in the sky/Carey umpire mark

GWS: Last year teams that lost players to GC seemed to play them twice (revenge of some sort I guess) so assuming it's similar, we will play GWS twice, Plus throw in the Sheedy 'poach a Docker' line and it will add spice to the games (AWESOME!!!!!)

Brisbane: This whole Mitch Clarke thing will be too juicy for the AFL to pass up, Brisbane will be livid and will boo him to their hearts content when we play them up in Brisbane. The only problem I see with this is that it has happened too late, and the AFL have already begun with the fixture (Let's hope not)

So that leaves us with 1 team to now play twice. And going by past fixtures I am pretty sure it will be Geelong/Port(please make it Port :)) or Adelaide. As I think that these teams we almost always seem to play twice every year. Now Geelong would be the only one I wouldn't want to play twice but the rest would be great.

All up with the fixtures going the way their going it looks like we will have a fair few 'gimme' games next as I assume it will go something like this

GWS : 2 x Wins
St Kilda: 1x Win(H) 50/50 (Away)
Brisbane: 2 Wins
Eagles: 2 x Wins (last year was an injury riddled aberration)

And for the Last team

Adelaide/Port Adelaide : 2 x Wins
Geelong : 50/50 win (H) Loss (Away)

Now looking at that, a possible 9 'gimme' wins doesn't sound too bad huh?:D

What do you guys reckon? What teams do you reckon we will play twice next year?

Can't sleep Angelus?

I am not really that concerned over the draw and who we play twice, although I like your theory that there is a grudge weighting in deciding who plays who. It would lock in Saints, Brisbane, GWS, Essendon and WC for sure.

I am more keen to see Lyon develop a gameplan that locks down our home ground advantage. He certainly had the Saints playing well there. If he does that, the actual opponent becomes less relevant. Clark as a roving CHF will do well there.

Sleep? I thought the early bird catches the good pr0n?.......no? oh well LOl, nah just a bit jet-lagged and drunk.

Why do you thing Essendon will get the nod for playing us twice? Surely the Mark Harvey connection wouldn't go that far would it? Not compared to Adelaide who we have played twice almost our entire time in the AFL?

There is decent logic behind your theory for those first 4 sides you think we will play twice.

Seems a bit weighted in terms of giving us a favourable draw, so I'd say we will have to play one of the top sides twice as well ... i.e. one of Gee/Haw/Coll/Carl. I would guess Geelong with no real reason, and they will give us away games against Collingwood and Carlton (seeing as we played them at home last year).

I don't care who we play aslong as we are competitive and hard at the ball!
Always seem to get flogged at away games....need to change that!

Freo are looking to finishing top 8...so we need to get as many wins as possible to be in the best position to have a chance at winning that cup!Once your in finals its a different season!

The draw is usually released a week or 2 after trade week so it could possibly be done already.

Two games against GWS would be awesome, hard to see them registering a win in 2012.

I'm hoping for an away game against GC too. The AFL spent a lot of money advertising the Gold Coast as the perfect footy vacation so surely it makes sense to ensure that all teams play there atleast once in a 2 year period.

I'm not sure making sense is part of the AFL's objectives when constructing the fixtures. We're not massive crowd pullers away from home, and for that reason i'd be surprised if we got an away game against GWS. We should play GC twice given we only played them once this year. But I reckon we're maybe 50/50 to do that.

GC is a great place to go for a few days though.....I went over there for the game against Carlton a few years ago, had a great time.

Harvey, plus I don't think they were too happy with the way we got MacPhree and Bradley.

Something to consider, pretty much every year a Perth team plays an Adelaide team at least twice. Most likely the 5th team you play twice with be South Australian.

I reckon a Saints Freo Rnd 1 clash is almost a lock.
