Nathan Van Berlo - averaged in the 120s in his last 6 games of 2011. Must be worth a look this year you would think.

Priced at an average of 93 I think I'll be showing the faith and jumping on. Thoughts?

About the time Craig left?

If he's allowed to play his natural game again this year then no reason he can't continue with that. Personally from Adelaide i'm going with Thompson i think, but those numbers sure do look good.

can he sustain it a whole year - that's the real question 6 games is one thing 22 is another!

Unfortunately most 6 game blocks won't include games against Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Richmond.

Then again, looking at how ridiculously easy Adelaide's draw this year maybe they will.

Mundy was my first picked midfielder once year 2011 finished. But with no preseason Ive ruled him out, was still considering him if he could get on the park sometime in January but now hes missed too much and i see to many other premium mids im confident in to risk it with Mundy.

Alot of Adelaide crows players avg big in the alst 6 rounds especially the midfield group, even ST wouldve gone close to 120+ IIRC. Im not reading into it.

After reading about Mundy's problems I just straight swapped him out for the other Freo underpriced potential premium mid who was smashed with injury last year but who is reportedly recovered and having a good pre-season.

No team is going to bother tagging Barlow when the much more dangerous Hill is in the side.

I could easily choose 15 different players for my mids, but other parts of the ground are lacking.

Thing i like about the midfield this year and pretty much every year, is the depth of players. At least 15-20 players capable of 100+ averages, all priced $400,000+. Should make for an interesting year as far as picking who you think will be the best of those players.

I am still deciding over who my 4 mid premiums should start out as, but i am settled with my current mids unless something changes during the NAB cup.

My current setup is 4 premiums and one midprice/premium (Hayes, Barlow, Ziebell, Cotchin, NVB) than 3 rookies.

Same here. I think with the variety in midpricers, as you've stated plus all the different rookie & the division everyone is having over premiums there should still be a huge point of difference in most midfields this year despite similar strategys.

Yes he is, which will probably stop me picking him.
As Artax says, midfields shouldn't be as similar as previous years. Will people play it safe with 4 or 5 premiums, or will they take risks on Barlow/Hayes types?

Is Ziebell missing the first 2 rounds?

Yes but your going to have 6 midfielders for round 1, than you can only hope that you picked the right ones eg: GWS mids who hold more JS than other rookies and they play round 2 aswell, meaning you don't have to worry about zero's. He could be quite a unique pick finding R11 players who have value or are solid premiums is really difficult. So he has a nice bye round, especially if he becomes a keeper. Even if he doesn't he should be in your team come round 11 as you should be upgrading many others before him.

4 premos plus a midprice in the MIDs seems difficult to achieve without rookie exposure in other parts of the ground. Am I correct in assuming the trade off is not starting with two premo rucks?

Maybe

Might team is anything from settled, but thats how it is atm.

The amount of rookie priced players (eg: under Coniglio's price) is 5 in my team currently.

Outside the mids I would agree with you but in the mids there are Boyd, Rockliff, Redden and ST that spring to mind. I don't really have a problem with any of them and I am sure two of those will be in my side come round 11.

Yeh i guess the mids hold their own and of course the rucks.

I still think there are better picks in the mids, but ive certainly considered most of those players.

My aim is to get through the bye rounds with the same midfield as i start with besides rookies. Than upgrade to a R12 or R13 midfield premium after.

Nice combination

Swan removed from leadership group this year, wonder if there's anything in it.

Didn't know that. A Reigning brownlow medalist at 27 years of age being pulled from the leadership group doesn't happen too often. And Heath Shaw in is just as interesting. Both could impact Fantasy scores.

Will be interesting to see how Embley's injury impacts game time for Koby Stevens and Gaff
